|Wolf_Lord_Skoll||I can see guards who are away from supply lines using *some* xenos weapondary. Vetrans would probly take smaller stuff as trophies as well.|

in alot of the guard books ive read there is heaps of looting and use of exotic pistols
and the impreium is a big place anything could happen

My regiment doesn't use commissars. The only xeno-tech I can see on my Vets are Kroot grenades and war knives, and their shoulder pads. I guess that could be rationalized by saying they procured the equipment on the field because it was just there, and that they were ignorant of who it belonged to. That or it could represent carapace armour and personal icons.
Can't find the example that inspired me.

|Cato Sicarius||I say he's killed enough of his own men, so kill him his own hat! Ahahahahaha! Haha. Ha.|

But any use of xeno-tech is, in effect, a condemnation of human tech. If a soldier uses a Tau shinpad it means 1 - he prefers the Tau shinpad to his own human shinpad; or, 2 - he was sent into battle without shinpads.
Either way, this is an implicit criticism of his regiment's commisariat, the regimental commander, the whole Imperium, Humanity and the Emperor. Really - the Imperium is that paranoid, xenophobic and generally stupid.
I can just about see it with long-term scouting/commando operations deep in enemy territory - apart from anything else, the Commissar if even present on this sort of operation isn't likely to last long. Shiney shoes and a big red hat probably aren't conducive to long-term survival. But for a normal 'line' regiment, I wouldn't expect anything other than trophies. But maybe, just maybe, a trophy knife could be usable, I dunno, it depends on whether anyone had a sense of irony.

|KellysGrenadier||I think people have misunderstood. I don't mean veterans using entire suits of Tau armour, just a shin pad/leg pad here and there, as an example.|

|Khorne's Fist||IMO opinion the use of xeno tech wouldn't be that wide spread, even with veterans. Remember, Imperial citizens are brought up to loath the alien, psyker and mutant. They learn this from the cradle, so I don't think veterans would be very quick to use tau carapace armour or eldar shuriken weapons for fear of the taint of the alien, no matter how effective they see them to be. Armageddon Ork Hunters are an exception, but they're bordering on being orks themselves.|

Purely for aesthetics, to differentiate them from the standard Guard.
I don't like the ideas of Commissars anyway.

|Blackhiker||If you use them as normal upgrades allowed, but model it as xenos then most people should understand. as for the fluffiness. Don't include commissars in the force.|

|KellysGrenadier||No I'm not making Auxiliaries, just asking the general opinion. I personally model my vets with Kroot knives and grenades, and acquired Astartes pistols and paraphernalia.|
