Jacobite "The lesson appears to be: if we could take the same urgency, enthusiasm and clarity of vision you need to get elected to government and apply those to governing… can we fix some problems? Yes we mother fucking can!"

-Winston Churchhill

"Never interrupt your enemy when he is making a mistake."
-Nepoleon

"All that glitters is not gold."
-William Shakespeare

"Great Britain and the United States are nations separated by a common language."

CPT Killjoy I just read all of these quotes. All 17 pages. And I have to say this is the best thread ever. And here are a few more (my pesonel favorites):

"To beer! The cause of, and solution too, all of life's problems"
-Homer J. Simpson

This was from a recent execution in Texas (within the past few years).

Executioner: “Sir, do you have any last words?”
Texas Prisoner: “Yep, tell the Governor he just lost my vote.”

“If it ain’t broke, fix it until it is”
Quoted by my Grandfather, who always swore that this was our family motto.

MidnightSun 'Romanes eunt domus' - Romans go home (literally, Romanes they go the house)

'Romani ite domum' - Romans go home (the correct form)

I always think that this sketch is an alarmingly accurate portrayal of secondary school language lessons.

They're both Churchill's, but they definitely do sound like they could have been from WC Fields as well, though.

Some of my favourites:

"Every time I think I've drunk/partied enough, I remember that Keith Richards is still alive" -- The uber-genius that is Bill Hicks.

"We's all gonna die" -- 'Billy' from the film Predator.

"Marriage is a great institution, but who wants to live in an Institution?" -- The incomparable Groucho Marx.

"There's something happening here: What it is ain't exactly clear. There's a man with a gun over there, telling me I have to beware. I think it's time we stop, children, what's that sound? Everybody look what's going down." -- 'For What It's Worth' by Buffalo Springfield (A song from 1966. IMHO, still just as relevant 46 years later as it ever was before).

Scythes I didn't read through the whole thread as it's 161 posts and 9 pages, but I"ll post my favorite. It means quite a bit to me being a US Marine, and it happens to be in my signature.

"Some people spend an entire lifetime wondering if they've made a difference in the world. Marines don't have that problem." -Ronald Reagan

My other fav is:

"Do, or do not, there is no try." -Yoda
