Xabre If your son likes Mech, I'd suggest maybe making his army unique compared (I'm assuming) your marines, by using some of the daemonwalkers and stuff. Just for fun. Forgefiends can dump a disgusting amount of firepower and aren't 'just another tank'. The Defiler, sadly, is too many points, but is a nice replacement for a Basilisk. The Heldrakes of course are an amazing flier. Hellbrukes and Maulerfields are units I'm not very familiar with, however.

Then you can slap in a Warpsmith to help support them, and Obliterators, if modeled right, would fit the theme too...

Loki1416 Thanks Fallen. He really likes "fluffy" models at the moment. Hasnt really gotten the concept that yeah, it may look cool, but it sucks in game. So I'm what I want to do is come up with a style for him (he's leaning towards mech or hybrid) and build a list around that. My own lists, I'll play as fluffy stuff just to mess around more or less. Dont want to wipe him off the table turn 2 or anything. So I'm planning on getting him at least 2 LR's of some type (magnets will always be applied), atleast another Heldrake, about 4'ish Rhinno/Razorbacks, and a couple more Preds. Troops are always a must so there will def be some more Marines in there and I'm already planning on some Oblits.

I tend to run my lords with whichever mark I want, then give him a Signal of corruption & a Power weapon, usually sword. maybe some other stuffs over time.
6 Chosen
I recommend to use these guys as squad leaders; since CC chosen are not really point efficient.
I like running mine pretty basic, I just swap the the PF for a power scourge and call it a day.
20 Cultists
cheap troops. the CC guys usually need to be 20+ strong and lead by some CSM HQ otherwise they will just break and run.
From the BF box:
10 Marines
pending on if you are going to run these as cult troops or just basic marines, i will leave these guys alone (in general though take 2 special weapons, that are the same, in a CSM squad.
3 Bikers
give two meltas/plasmas.
5 Possessed
unfortunately are not competitive still... are kinda ok to play, but i would not expect too much.
i run mine as a dakka pred, so autocannon turret and HB sponsons, and i add in warpfire (to grant soul blaze) so it can potentially kill more.
And a Heldrake
give it the baleflamer.

Any advice for his army would be greatly appreciated.
thoughts in cyan.

how does he want to play? horde, mech, hybrid, zombies, etc?

CSM for my son

Need some Heretic help with this as I know nothing about CSM, not sure what I need to make my son's army strong. He really only likes them because of how they look, so it's up to me to help him make a army. I'm not asking for lists or anything like that and I've read all the CSM tutorials. What I'm looking for is personal advice, what works for you/with how you play it. Again, never having played with CSM, I really dont know all that much. The only armies he will be playing against are DA and GK, from 1k up to 2k points.
What I've bought him so far is a mix from the DV box and a BF box.
From the DV box:
Chaos Lord
6 Chosen
20 Cultists
From the BF box:
10 Marines
3 Bikers
5 Possessed
And a Heldrake

Any advice for his army would be greatly appreciated.
