khrone forever i actually had forgotten the question by the time i had got to the end of the thread, but....

no the high elves were not connected to the birth of slaanesh, he/she was born before the old ones came to the warhammer world, but as baron spikey said, he/she is the youngest of the gods, first khorne then tzeentch then nurgle then slaanesh, then a load of others that we never hear about (or who have been killed by the others)

however the elves were ripped apart in the sundering, where the dark elves split from their high elf bretherin

Vaz Dude, it's nice to be helpful and all, but please check the dates of the threads you're posting on; this is over 2 years old ;).

Although it's still about time to pack up fantasy because of 8th.

Anarkitty GW has gone back and forth on this over the years. Currently, the official statement is that there is no connection between the WHF world and WH40K universe. They are similar, but unrelated.
At other times throughout history they have implied that the Warhammer world is a planet in the 40K universe cut off by warp storms, that Sigmar was a Primarch, that they are alternate realities that share the same Warp.
Regardless, the nature of the Warp is such that Slaanesh has always existed, just like the other Gods, even prior to whatever event caused His "birth". In a sense She was born retroactively.

Vaz That also explains the lack of Necrons in Fantasy. If you ever see a silver Skeleton with a Green Sword, you'll know that it's time to pack up Fantasy.

Baron Spikey Even in WFB Slaanesh is the youngest of the Chaos Gods (with Khorne being the 'oldest'), but it's never really discussed explicitly how Slaanesh came to exist. My personal opinion is that rather than the Warhammer world being a world within the 40K galaxy I see it more as alternate reality.

An example might be a simple sandwich cake (stick with me on this one):
The Warhammer World's reality is one layer of sponge, the 40K Galaxy is another. But separating them is the jam that is the Warp, Immaterium...whatever you call it, that connects to both realities but prevents either of the layers interacting with the other.

In this instance it would solve a lot of problems regarding the presence of Old Ones, Gods and similar races; obviously the Gods reside in the warp, and the Old Ones were the master of utilising said realm seeding other worlds (one of them perhaps being the Warhammer World in order to explain the large number of races). In this theory the Warhammer World could quickly become an alternate Earth (look at maps of the Warhammer World and tell me it doesn't look incredibly similar to our Terra).
Also in Liber Chaotica a few sections regard a Warhammer's clerks visions of the 40K galaxy as shown to him through the use of magic.

Of course this is all just a theory, I like to believe its true but I wont force anyone else to believe it

EDIT: Bit o controversial statement for you here-
With this theory maybe when the worshippers of Sigmar pray to their God and he seemingly listens and grants them power, it's actually the Emperor responding to their pleas...certainly would explain how a mortal man (Sigmar) became a 'god'.

No! No! No!! Eldar are not the old ones!!!

The old ones made most, if not all of the races including Eldar.

On topic, I believe Slanesh has been around as long as the others in fantasy but I could be wrong.

Fen-Dweller You can actually find this in the DE AB, the WoC AB, the DoC AB and probably the LM one too, though idk about that. And I'm sure there's a plethora of others as well.

Anyway, Chaos is all supposed to have existed already, but is let into the world by a 'disaster' of some fashion. When the Old One's star gate collapsed, Chaos spilled into the world. Chaos is just the emotions of the creatures on the planet that were created in the flux the Old Ones had, etc., etc., etc. No specifics in this game, unfortunately.

I believe we're supposed to speculate that Fantasy and 40k are the same universe, the Eldar=the Old Ones, this is but an abandoned plan of the Eldar after the birth of Slannesh (the 'disaster'), etc.

Imo.
