If you like the 'olde worlde' knights... Black Templars say it all, with CLOSE COMBAT WEAPONS TO THE FACE!!

(I am however rather biased, being a BT player myself.)

Go down to the local games workshop, play with someone elses army for a short game, have a mess about with all the armies before choosing one. It is a hefty investment so you don't want to start one army only to discover it isn't actually your play style.

I'm a footslogger - lots of infantry tooled up to the teeth, take the fight to the enemys' face.
You may be a tank player, shooting player, close combat or a psychis power player. The army should reflect you and your style of playing.

Hi and welcome to heresy. I might as well throw something elese out there for you to think about. How about going with a non marine army? There are so many power armour armies out there I always like to try and get people thinking about something else. (Eldar, tau, dark eldar, necrons)

All thouse armies can bring ranged firepower and close combat. Now the tau and eldar codecs are old, but they both will likely get a new one before years end.

I would recomed picking up an eldar battleforce and a farseer, to get you started. This will give you everything you need for a leagle army. Then pick up the codex off of eBay because they will get a new one and you should save your money for that.

Nice thing about this, is you will a good assortment of models.

With what ever army you get just pick up a battlefore and a hq and it will get you started
