Hello, which is better for a first time warhammer army choice; Space Wolves, Grey Knights or Eldar?

What style of play would you prefer? close combat or shooty?

Space wolves are a relatively easy to learn cos they are a well rounded heavy weapon shooty/combat and have a pretty solid save.

Grey knights are a similar but far more elite army which are better on a budget.

The problem imo is that space marines limit your tacticical option making it harder to play a different army later on.

I reccomend eldar though because they are swift and fragile and starting out with them will improve your ability to tactically think making you a better player.

Either way welcome to heresy XD and post pics of your army when you do decide?

I would have to say Space Wolves, they have wonderful fluff and whats not to love about space werewolf/vikings

The IG are proof that good things come to us who wait. I've been Guard since 3rd ed. I been in the store and remember getting 5 boxes of men (when they came in 20 man boxes) 3 Commissars and praying that I might survive til turn 4. I've stuck it out, and you know what I have to say? WHO'S DYING NOW HA HA HA HA HA HA!!!!

its not really a question you should ask people. ask which is easier to build and paint yes but to play??????? i made that mistake, people spacemarines are the easiest yes thats true, but at the time i didnt know what kind of game i like, know a year later i realize i prefer swarming and assaulting so i moved to tyranids i dont win as much but i have a lot more fun. so watch a few games/videos, miniwargamming does great batreps, then make you choice

Don't Choose Space Marines, Grey Knights! Come to the dark side and become one with Chaos! Muhahahahahahahahaha! But on a more serious note, I like the tactics of Eldar. Yes they may be more fragile but they have access to some power pshycic powers and are very swift also if painted well look graceful and fantasic on the table top. Now with the new paints that are out you can paint like a pro even if you are a N00B!

Read the book. Read some fluff and most of all, think about what army you will enjoy painting the most... a lot of people love the idea of a horde army, and then when they get to their 30th model... loose heart when the other 120 are staring at them. Luckily all the sm choices are low on model count. If you want to play it safe GKs are a good bet becuas ehtey have just been released and wont be redone for a while.
