New (somewhat) member

Hello all, i've been reading up on the threads here for almost a year. i've recently decided to enter the army painting comp and noticed the requirement for an intro post. not knowing if i would be grandfathered in i decided it wouldn't take too much time to introduce myself.

i got into the hobby ~4 years ago when a buddy of mine showed me the game. i had never heard of it before then. i started out in fantasy and decided to play lizardmen. why? because i thought they looked cool and for no other reason. since then i've collected high elves, dark elves, empire, tomb kings, vampire counts, daemons, orcs and goblins, space marines, and a recent IG army. i have a fully painted lizardmen, and space marine army (Ultramarines 2nd company WHOOP!) i also have several units painted for my tomb kings and dark elves. i switch back and forth between armies once i get tired of painting one.

i enjoy gaming and actually HATE painting. however, i do it anyway because i enjoy playing with painted models much more than an all gray army. i think the reason i dislike it is because i'm a fairly slow painter. to paint a space marine would take me ~3 hours start to finish. i'm using the painting challenge to keep me motivated throughout the year. i'm currently motivated by the escalation league i'm running which gives points for painting as well as gaming. i've noticed this has had a really nice effect on others in my FLGS. guys who never paint anything are actually taking time (maybe not a lot of time) to at least throw some paint on their models.

anyway, hello all, i'll be seeing you around. take are and happy gaming.

PS...i love the fluff threads because i learn a lot. i don't post too much there because i'm usually behind the power curve having not read a BL book until right around the time titanicus came out. i've been catching up on the horus heresy series but they come out faster than i can read them.
