Sorry, but its time for me to put my 2 pence in.
Firstly, I listen to Metal (From Diecide & Slayer to Mushroomhead, Sabaton & Deftones), and Electronica (DnB like Dillinja, Spor NOT PENDULUM
, Breakcore like Vsnares, Spectre, etc) to Classical and Old NY Jazz (DUKE ELLINGTON BITCHES!) So trying not to sound pretencious, I AM open minded about music.
This is all OPINION
I have also not listened to alot of Dubstep, but most of what I've come across (Youtube/LastFM/Spotify) does sound really cheap and rushed (Sample-sample-sample-Break/pause-WOBBLE-WOBBLE-WOBBLE), and could do with some pretty heavy mastering.
However, some of it has actually been pretty good, and consists more of a Bass hook fed through a Dist and 3 or 4 LFO's and Filters. But I have noticed alot of (what I think is) good dubstep, is actually produced by DnB producers from 1992-today.
To somewhat derail this, If your like me, and think DnB/Electro is "Yay" but Dubstep is "Meh" may I be so bold as to reccomend a little Drumstep? Or just a noisey video of a rave cat.
Now I'm just waiting for some muppet to proclaim its just Dubstep again.
TL;DR My sister is pregnant with my child.
