Just saw The Glitch Mob live a week ago today. Front row up against the barricade. My ears hurt for a couple days after... permanent hearing loss? Eh, worth it.

I'm not crazy about all the vocals on the latest album, but I really like the last 2 discs.

It makes me happy to know this, my friend.

That was the first Weakerthans track I ever witnessed performed. It was at a John K. solo gig and he played it after half a dozen tracks off Provincial, it was so nice. The dude sounds almost exactly the same live vocally as he does recorded. I've seen him twice solo now, I have yet to catch the band when they tour through Toronto. One of the few bands I will deal with large crowds of people for.

Unfortunately Canada got rid of the penny and now my two cents rounds down to zero, so...take it for what you will.

You need to. The past few years they've come through Lubbock, we've gone and seen them. The past two years we've gotten damn good seats, nearly front row.

1: Blind Guardian - I'm kind of on a Blind Guardian binge right now.
2: Disturbed
3: Epica
4: Five Finger Death Punch
5: TSO

My youtube channel. Feel free to stop by and have a look if you're interested. I do Airsoft, some warhammer related videos, and gaming videos.

R.I.P. Uncle Lee. You will be greatly missed by us all. We will see each other again some day.

Naaah, the vocals are the weakest part of the album--the focus on them distracts from the actual music of the song and lets them get away with kinda samey-stuff rather than the dynamic range of their first album. There are some top-notch songs on the new album, still: "Can't Kill Us," "Mind of a Beast," "Our Demons"...

To my surprise, though, hearing them live that feeling on my part lessened. The difference between their normal songs and the songs with some canned lyrics added in weren't altogether too distance. So a small mercy for the live show, I guess, keeping the overwhelming quality running throughout.

Their remixes also tend to be great. Drink The Sea Part II: The Mixtape, for instance, or More Voltage. Not so much the Drink The Sea: The Remixes Vo.1 & 2, though... yeuch. Only a few good songs throughout those 30, since other less talented musicians were doing the mixing. ...Best part about all these, though, is the fact that they're free on the Glitch Mob's site.

The Mountain Goats- Listened to them on many long, gruelling bus journeys whilst backpacking around Asia...His music really fits staring out a bus window for hours for some reason. All Hail West Texas has got to be my favourite, I prefer their older, more raw 'lo-fi' sound to the more produced stuff.

You hear the bonus tracks included on the remastered version of All Hail West Texas they just release? "Indonesia," "Midland," Hardpan Song"... some excellent additions to the album that didn't quite make the original cut.
