Default Rare Lustrian Griffon & Elven Army

I've finished painting my first 500 points of High Elves and would very much welcome comments and critique.

All the models bar the Mage came from Island of Blood.

The First up is my Life Mage

Core, ten Sea Guard

Ten Swordmasters of Hoeth

Which brings me on to la pièce de résistance, my rare & exotic Lustrian Griffon (Counts as Great Eagle). She's very much intended to be the centerpiece of the army, and, though I might've hoped for more, I am satisfied with how she turned out, and I learned some things from sculpting and painting her, which is the main thing.

Here is the army as a whole. I'll be putting it into action for the first time this time next week. Wish me luck.

i can't see, is that a freehand on the banner? that would be awesome.
and everything(the griffon mostly) could use some shading (drybrush/wash?)

but it's a good start, good luck!

failing to plan is planning to fail

How did you remove the rider from the griffon?

Like greenee said thin washes, and a couple of highlights would really make the models pop. The other thing is to do something with the bases, minis really look better based with some sand and grass, or whatever your choice is

solid start!

Lessee...

No, those banners aren't free hand (I wish!).

All of the models including the Griffon are washed and highlighted. The photos perhaps don't show it fully, but it is a fairly subtle set of shading and highlights. I typically wash with Baddab Black, Devlan Mud or my favourite Gryphonne Sepia and then highlight using the same colour as whatever is under the wash. Perhaps I could make it more distinct?

I did drybrush some Blazing Orange on the griffon's red feathers, and some lighter purple to highlight the infantry's purple bits, but I could add a little more. Suggestions?

I removed the rider from the griffon with a scalpel and diagonal cutters, then sculpted feathers out of green stuff.

As for bases... I fully know that I'm in the minority (perhaps of 1) but I just don't like the way decorated bases look. It's one of those 'eye of the beholder' things. I really have no other reason.

Nice work. Maybe your shading/highlighting is too subtle? Look forward to seeing more of you work.

I don't know if it's the camera, but it's washed out the highlighting. Perhaps a wash of mechrite red/hormagaunt purple/bestial brown (1:4 water?) could darken it slightly, and then go over again with a lighter coloured wash?
