Default Kolinsky Sable Brushes

I came across these while looking for a good set of model painting brushes. They look quite good, reasonably priced, and seem to be just the right size for the models that I am trying to paint. Does anyone else use these?

It is the topmost collection that I am considering purchasing, if anyone else can recommend these that'd be great, or a different set of better quality.

They look pretty good, but i haven't tried them.

If you're after brushes, try this site out:

I'd recommend the series 33 brushes, I have a few sizes but even using the number 2 I can still paint very small details accurately.

I once said that, If I ever saw a paintbrush more expensive than my black templars army I would eat my wallet as it as it would be easier to swallow than paying that much for a brush.
Shot myself in the foot there didn't I

About $5-10 will get you a good quality brush that will last you quite a while.
No need to spend ridiculous money on brushes.
I know some people who have spent over 50 bucks on a size 2, and has no advantages over a $5-10 brush.

Whatever you do though, do NOT buy cheap brushes.
I bought a set of 5 brushes a while ago (size 000, 0, 1, 2, and 4) for about $8, and ended up throwing them in the bin.

Stick to around the $5-10 mark, take care of your brushes, keep them clean, treat the bristles with care, and they will last you quite a while.

No pictures? That makes it hard to tell, which sizes of the series 33 would you recommend?

The price for size 22 is outlandish, I could get a whole new army for that.

heh, if you look at their size 10 it's about 30, a size 10 Winsor and newton series 7 would set you back 189, so imagine if they made a size 22

I'd definitely recommend a size 2, I also have a 3 and a 0/3.

Thanks for the advice Varakir. I've ordered a few brushes, sizes 3/0, 0, 1, 2 and 3. That should be just what I need for my Dark Eldar army .

The only sizes i use are a 0 and a 2.
I have a 000 i got for fine detail, but i find that the tip on the 0 is fine enough to do what i want with it.

The 5 brushes should cover just about everything for infantry.

Yeah they'll be great for infantry and Dark Eldar vehicles are very thin so an infantry brush would do just as well for them, they have far less bulk than any Space Marine or Ork vehicle so a wide brush isn't a good idea, at least I don't think it would be.

My dad and I have allways used Sable brushes and my dad swears by them, not that I could tell you which brand he buys. But for general use, he doesnt pay more than 10 quid for a set of 6...
