It very much depends on the Model in question.

Most people assemble most models before painting.

That said I leave SM arms, shoulder pads and backpacks off untill they are painted.

Its all just which you prefer in the end give a few ways a try untill YOU are happy and go from there.

Using the spell checker will help make your post easier on the eye btw.

This is how I paint mine. I find that this way I don't miss any spots. I think humakt does something similar.

It does depend on the model and it depends on your style. Some of my models I assemble completly then paint, most are half assembled then I paint the parts and finish assmebling like the others have posted. Some models I paint all the pieced then assemble them. So there is no right or wrong way to do it, it more depends on what is comfortable for you I know many people that paint things on the sprue then assemble so it is really up to you.

God, gives children to people so that death won't seem so disappointing.

I tend to leave guns off unless its an assault troop never had any problems. Though now that I'm doing RG I also leave off the left Shoulder pad so I can strip it if I'm not happy with the CHapter sign.

That tends to be a bit harder though for devastators and the like... someone suggest pinning the arms then taking it apart to paint.
