I pretty much go with lav25gunner's way too. But like others have said, There really is no right or wrong way of doing it. Whatever works for you. As for abba, i prefer s club 7 personally.

Ignoring musical tastes for the time being...

For Orks (as an example), I assemble all but the arms and gun as they'd obscure part of the chest, and I know my hand/eye coord isn't good enough. So arms and weapon painted separately, and then glued to the main torso (which has also been painted).

As for music, I often listen to Jean-Michel Jarre when painting. Learnt early on the head-banging/air guitaring and painting don't go well together.

I almost always fully assemble the model before I paint it. Only exceptions are bits that entirely block access to a section of the model while leaving it fully visible.

one thing I want is the ability to split my fire everywhere, it makes no sense that a squad of 10 guard or marines or whatever all have to fire at 1 target with everything, is the guy with the lascannon not smart enough to realize maybe he would be better off firing at the massive tank looming overhead instead of the little man no bigger than a squat running at him, or is that far too complex for the 10yr olds?

I mostly assemble my models, except bits that make it difficult to paint f.ex. the chest, but still allows it to be seen. Exactly the same way The Wraithlord does it.
Special characters I set up in the position I like, then take it apart and paint each part seperately. Then I glue it together. If I need to use GS to make it fit, i just paint the GS so that it fits the model after assembly.

This does of course not work on heavily converted models. At least, not for me, hehe.

95% of teens would cry if they saw the Jonas Brothers at the top of a skyscraper about to jump. Copy and paste this if you are part of the 5% that would yell "DO A FLIP!!!"

you need to make sure the plastic is showing, for the parts you want to glue. Otherwise the glue won't melt the plastics together and your troops will start to fall apart if dropped etc.

I paint pretty much the same way as humakt and lav25... however I havent started basing my models (any of them) until recently... happily, I adhere to the school of "space marines cant stand on top of snow drifts, they're too damn fat and fall right through".

As for music, well, its my Zune, which schitzophrenically shuffles through all the different eras of rock/metal (with 99.999% of the crap cleared away)

cloths? what cloths? I can only paint in the nude...

i put the model and primed it and then painted it, i've put some together painted it and then added other bits later, ATM i'm trying the whole painting it all on the spure, it's working pretty good, but it's a lot slower for me.

How ironic it is that as fast as we spread progress and hope throughout the galaxy, the Tyranids spread death and despair. Only united can we hope to stand against them.

LIES!!!! HERESY!!!!!! BLASPHAMY!!!!! there is a correct way of painting!!!!!

which ever way is more comfertable to the individual painter...

mine jsut so happens to be sitting with "Velved Acid Christ" blaring out of my headphones with me hunched over several models as i systematically bob my head as i paint, and paint, and paint, and paint... then get pissed off that i painted thirty seven left knee pads and go out for a smoke , continue with next piece and continue....

i go through alot of cigarettes when i paint >_<

Seconded. That generally means leaving the backpack and bolter off of Space Marines, standards off of standard bearers for WHFB, and the like.
