I figured a thread with a title like this HAS to be interesting!

I love the camo pattern!
I agree with djinn24, a brown or reddish brown wash is neccessary on the flesh, followed by highlighting with your original flesh tone

Love the camo scheme, as well- Nice to see a change from the forest green ones.

lookin good man! I personally think it's a great start, but definately hold off on the wash until you can get the GW ones. They are as good as gold

I really like the camo work you've done, very very authentic looking. I second the call for a wash on the flesh, will just raise it that little bit higher.

Things I'd do:

1) Wash the whole model as others have suggested. Use the new GW washes - both of the browns (Sepia and Mud?). Try with plenty of water first, 50/50 or so, and take it from there. Could probably get away with washing the whole model! Just be careful with your camo - don't just splash the wash everywhere.

2) Just re-apply another coat on the base rims to tidy it up.

3) Make sure your paints are quite well watered down - I go for slightly thicker than milk. Couple of thin coats applies and looks better than one thicker coat.

Hope that helps.

As said a wash would work wonders on them as if would give a really nice shading and give the model more oomph, love the camo scheme though good job mate. JD

ya you should wash the skin with devlan mud and the clothes in a mix of Devlan Mud and the black one. If your careful you could also just paint brown into the folds of the pants.

Nice work on the camo scheme. I agree with the other posters, hold off the washing until you get the GW ones, these make life so much simpler and really enhance your models. A bit of tidying up and a wash and these will be spot on. Looking forward to more pics of your guard as I am tempted to start up my own IG Company.

Just a quick update;

Ordered some more paint and washes so I can touch these up a little better. I have a 5 man squad painted now, going to try and get a whole platoon done today, or at least base coated. I recieved a shipment from 40k Empire (freakin schweet!), and afew other packages so now I'm looking at around 100 minis to paint, 1 chimera and 3 leman russ

Done:
4 Guardsmen (including vox and flamer)
1 Sgt

Need to be completed:
84 Guardsmen give or take
10 Kasrkins
3 Officers
1 Commissar
1 Chimera
2 Standard Leman Russ
1 Vanquisher

I really should follow my own advice and do a squad at a time....
