Default Primaris Iron Armour

I'm recently returned to buying and painting Warhammer 40k (after 30 years!) as my son has now discovered it too.

I've started with some primaris marines which I noticed are larger and I like them a lot. I've seen pictures online of the iron armour marines with boarding shields and wondered, is it possible to buy, or convert primaris marines to have iron armour with boarding shields.

I'm concerned if I buy the primaris basic kit and parts from somewhere like forgeworld they won't match size.

Does anyone have any advice? Thanks in advance.

Primaris Marines are indeed larger, however that's mostly to fix the proportions. Shoulder pads and heads can usually be freely swapped around and will match in terms of size. The difference is mostly in the legs, and a bit in the torso.

More important in your case, Primaris arms tend to be longer and a bit thicker. It can look okay - definitely from a distance - but will be noticeable up close, and the fit can be fiddly for two-handed weapons (due to the broader Primaris torso).

If you try and don't like the look of the normal Marine arms, some plasticard spacers to lengthen them mostly fix it IMO. You may want to experiment with something cheaper than FW bits to see if your inner perfectionist agrees though.

Ask not the Eldar a question, for they will give you three answers; all of which are true and horrifying to know.

Thanks for the reply. I've decided to try something a little different after I picked up the Celestial Warbringers upgrade pack. The shields are a good size for the Primaris but keeping the imagery they look a bit more sand than snow! So I'm going to learn to green stuff capes and make a squad of Spartan Primaris with a mix of swords and guns. Will post once I've done some but a while away as I'm waiting for the new Primaris pack due out at GW.
