Default cheesy or cool?

ive recently inherited a vast amount of tyranid minis, ive been out of the hobby for some time, about ten years. i love to make custum conversions and this mix of old and new nids seem to be my chance. in the past though some of my custum armies, like the multi armed chaos eldar were consider very stupid by some to my my suprise, so i figured i would get some feed back before i started on my nid conversions.

my nid idea was to have the entire army to have the lower torso of a snake and or a spider. what do you guys think?

my second question is, what is the games workshop regulations on converting minis with parts of non games workshop products, ie reaper minis childrens toys and any other crap i caqn find to make it happen

I think using anything other than Citadel parts comes under the 'counts as' rule.

I like the idea, personally, and I think you should disregard any negative critiques and do what fulfills your creativity.

I'd say go for it. The hobby's about creativity. So you might as well let loose and give in to that Tzeentchian voice whispering in your ear. Change those 'nids! Mutate them!

Simply, they don't like you using stuff they didn't make. For yourself and your friends, do whatever pleases you. However, don't plan to take them to a grand tournament or anything.

And just for the heck of it give the ravener legs :D
It is a good idea, im just thinking how would you make their torsos fit with spider legs, it would look kinda awkward, snake bodys on the other hand would look just plain ol' awesome :D

do it. screw games workshop. the tournaments aren't worth the hassle.

On the subject of Rat Ogres:
But if we give them laser eyes and mounted guns, we'll have to bring in Clan Skryre, and everyone knows how much those limp-tailed snuff addicts overcharge.

I like the sound of spider legged army. Not sure about the snake one though.

The non GW ruke does is only for GW sponsored tournaments and Golden Deamons, so if your not takingthe army to those, use what you want.

Looking forward to seeing your nids.

Your toast has been burnt and no amount of scraping will get rid of the black bits.
