Let me start this by saying one important thing;

I am not a great modeller, and I am a terrindous painter (terribly horrendous).

What you see here is merely something I thought might be helpful to others with Tyranids.

I apologize for the crappy pictures in some areas if you would like pictures of specific things let me know and I can re take pics of them and load them up on here.

I love criticism and I love suggestions! Thank you all for your time and I hope you enjoy.

Don't worry you foul little creature, I have no intention of killing you today. Come stand next to me and watch your world burn and understand the meaning of the word futility.

First up is a pewter Hive tyrant I was gifted because it was partially broken and too hard to magnetize.

I was also given a set of wings so I decided instead of goofy ass foot scythes I would model them as coming out of the vents in his back.

So the first thing I had to do was shave down the vents coming off his back, but I got a bit carried away and didn't take pics until after the first wing was finished.

After I used some tin shears to snip the second vent into a post I used a drill bit to hollow out a spot in each wing to fit the post. I clipped off the third post on each side and flattened it with a file and then I drilled pinning holes into the post and the new flat area. I forced the wing down onto the new pins I had inserted to score the plastic and give me a rough idea of where they pins would fit.

After this I snipped the Balrog wings to fit right above his 4th set of vents and then I pinned and glued those bad boys into place.

After the wings were attached to the body it was time for my terrible attempts at using green stuff!

The tops of the first vents had been shaved because m friend has his own scheme he does with all the vents of all his bugs. With him abandoning this one for a finecast version I was left with the mads he had made, thus the overly thickened top to his front vents.

The musculature and connective tissue look I was shooting for on the greenstuff around his wings was nowhere near what I had hoped for, but it gets the job done, and at the end of the day I am more of a player than a sculptor.

Now for some PAINT! La Pintura!

A good ole base coat of gray gesso or 4 before I get to any kind of fancy detail work.

Through in a teensy bit of carving to give his vents the sunken portion on top and to try to make the musculature look a little better but it didn't give me much.

However I had the main portion of a Flyrant done!

One thing to remember about this model is that it had been assembled before I got it and so it was coated in glue in every single socket and had lots of worked performed on it.

My buddy is one of the most amazing modders I have seen, but he does extensive changed to every model he gets lol.

Next we have everything else!

So every appendage he has is pinned and glued and in a lot of cases greenstuft into place as well. Some of these pictures are terrible and for that I apologize, it was cold in my garage. 30 degrees in south Texas is not conducive to painting or taking pictures.

I don't play a lot of tournaments I mostly just play with friends so WYSIWYG isn't a big deal for us.

So what do you guys think?

Alrighty well here are some closeups and some not so closeups, do pardon the mess, I like to drink drink mountain dew and smoke while I work on my minis.

Next up will be the little capillary towers I am working on for objective markers!

And once I get this guy post apoca-dipped I will post pics of that too!

and now the capillary tower objective markers!

These were scratchbuilt by a friend and then cast but the stuff he used set too fast and didn't allow the air bubbles to escape so i have to re green stuff a lot! These guys aren't even halfway finished! So. Much. Greenstuff.

Now my camera was freaking out and giving me a bunch of weird colors last night and I'm not sure what that is about so sorry for that bit. It also wasn't wanting to focus right.

Now these things all have spines coming from everywhere but I need to shave them down a bit and make them a little more uniform, not exactly uniform, but much closer at least.

Once I am done they will all be painted in my scheme and dipped.
