Default Preparing bases...

Wishing to redo the bases to my Aesir Knights army to more of a chapel theme I enlisted SoH to create the bases. And here are the results of me trying to paint some.

Shadow grey base, then a thinned chaos black to wash it. Darker then I thought it would be, not sure what I can do about that. Then again... some chapels do have dark bricks... shouldn't have done these when I was really torked off...

I would try lightly drybrushing them with a 95% to 5% mix of fortress grey and bestial brown. Most stone has a slightly earthy tint, and the fortress gray will help lighten the base without making it too bright.

I can try that. Just need to pick those up next time I'm down there to play. Not sure if thats gonna be tomorrow or when. Honestly though, with all the crap I'm dealing with currently, just considering going with that first link you send me with the crafted bases and having someone paint them for me.

Just need everything to settle I guess.

not bad so far but they need to be highlighted, they're a bit dark atm.

Truthfully, the sculpting itself doesn't have a very finished look to it. Almost rushed looking. If you have the time to go back and fill in around the very edge with some sculpting material, and then sand along the edge to make it blend seamlessly, I'd do it. In the end it'll really give them a more finished look. Then get to the details on painting.
