Default Making foam figure trays

I want to make some of my own foam trays for my tanks with a hot foam knife. Does anyone what the best material to use is? Also, I'm looking for a harder material to put on the bottom so it can better support my models. Any suggestions? I have Battlefoam for other armies but it's a bit too expensive. Thank you.

Polystyrene Case with hardboard bottom. Or just regular foam with a hardboard bottom...

Not polystyrene. Urethane foam sheets is a lot closer to what I'm looking for. I want to use the same material (or as close as possible) that Battlefoam and KR use. Does anyone know what material that is?
