Default What do you love-to-hate painting?

What do you love to hate painting?

Personally, it takes a bit of effort for me to sit down and paint the trim around Chaos Space Marine armour. It just seems to take forever. I sit there thinking, "Why don't I paint more good guy Marines without the silly trim." But when the squad is done I sit back give myself a smile and pat on the back and think it was worth all the effort.

So, whats your painting based labour of love?

Rank upon rank of skellies. . . .

gurrgh. . . .

"I refuse to prove that I exist," says God, "for proof denies faith, and without faith I am nothing."

"But," says Man, "the Babel fish is a dead giveaway, isn't it? It could not have evolved by chance. It proves you exist, and so therefore, by your own arguments, you don't. QED."

"Oh dear," says God, "I hadn't thought of that," and promptly vanishes in a puff of logic.

Aside from tanks which I despise painting I would have to say Orks, there's something about they way they're put together that just makes them a pain in the arse to paint, I don't know what it is I just dread Orks popping up on commission jobs.

Also, Ewoks eat people.
Never forget that.
Ewoks. Eat. People.

My Harlequins...I like to paint each model as an individual piece to give that truly motley feel to the army. Takes far longer than my marines, but they look so good.

Servants of the Laughing God (Harlequin Themed Eldar Army)
First Eastern Mirage Corps (C:SM)
I am the Evil Project Log (All my work since restarting the hobby)
The Crusade of Morr (WFB Empire Battle Reports)
Dem Bones (Dice Rolling Program)

Base coating models in the same colour - so I started Tomb Kings, Necrons adn Iron Warrios...

Me: To be honest im amazed there isn't a chaos god of not revising or at least chaos god of procrastination

MidnightSun: There will be, when enough people do it. Y'know when the Eldar were all engaging in their hedonism and Slaanesh ripped open the Eye of Terror with his creation? Slaanesh will have NOTHING on the God of Procrastination, and his vile minions will carve the galaxy asunder in a thousand year reign of blood.... Tomorrow

High Elves, can't unify the look with a wash which makes it really tough and against my style of painting

Tough but I like them a lot. Strange as I usually paint the bad guys

Sanguinary Guard. Each color takes 3-4 paints, and doing that plus drying time makes them take FOREVER. But they look damn good.

Highlighting Black. I love black as a color. I just can't paint it to save my fucking life.

I know this pain on such a deep level. Skellies aren't hard for me to paint (on the contrary) but after painting 200 of them up to this point, with well over 100 left, it can be a bit taxing.
