Default Highly Decorated Brass Scorpion

Here's a Brass Scorpion that I did for a commission a little while ago. I really enjoyed doing all kinds of crazy freehand and filling those panels. Filling them with grotesque images that would please Khorne was really quite a bit of fun, and worked well with the theme that the mini already has going for it.

Anyway, here he is, with a slew of detail shots.

Also, I've posted him up on CMON for anyone who cares to vote.

That freehand is absolutely astounding. Brilliantly painted. I don't actually like how it looks on the model but that's no reason to ignore the talent put into this (I take it it was the customers choice). I like each individual panel but when I look at the model as a whole it just doesn't work for me. I hope the customer was pleased with it anyhow.

And like I said, fantastic painting (as usual!)

Regards,
Jake.

I've just had a crisis (as Jeremy Clarkson terms it). Kudos on the time and effort. I now want a Brass Scorpion.

I think it looks great though I am am going to have to agree with RC. Individually the panels look great and there is no denying the skill involved, but together it is just a bit busy for my personal tastes.

That would be superb work on a flat piece of paper, so arranged around the trim on a curved panel it is exceptional.

I also like the way the metal areas have depth and variation while still acting as a plain compliment to the panels.

What paints have you used? Not colours, just curious as to which brand.

I mostly use P3 paints, but I do have an assortment of other brands (Citadel, Vallejo, Reaper).

I find that I love GW's Tin Bits, but don't use a whole lot else from them.

Tin Bitz is probably my favourite paint currently produced by GW also.

Great work. I can only aspire to one day approach sometime similar to what you do.
