Default Tips on painting blood?

Hi people. Pretty sure this has been covered several times, but if anyone has any tips on painting realistic blood that'd be great (as in blood splatter on swords.)

Cheers people, look forward to any tips (pics welcome too).

old blood:
1:1 chaos black-red gore (for a slice effect feather it onto the edge of the blade that does the cutting, for spatters just blob it on randomly)
1:2 chaos black-red gore
red gore (this is getting progresivly less and less on the blade/cloth)
then maybe stipple some black back on for very dryed/clotted areas

new blood:
red gore basecoat
1:1 red gore-blood red
blood red
gloss varnish

hope this helps

Red ink also makes a pretty nice blood and you can use a tooth brush to apply as a mist as well.
