Default Painting W.h with the loved one.???

(Currently living with my Girlfriend (Strong 3 years +) )

I played warahmmer/40k for a couple years when 8 years old then stopped but always enjoyied modeling and painting ever since..

as quiet as iam painting away my warhammer, (whenever i get a chance) i speak to her about nothing shes knows about (Paint hues, and tones usually ), however she always shows an interest in how im progressing on models etc which i love about her.

Now this may seem odd in one way then selfish the other however i would love for her to take what i do from painting warhammer in general.. so RELAXING (not so much glueing !)

Im NEVER get annoyed about small issues in life (we just laugh it off)She has a "Passion for fashion"(as she puts it)And I would always give her my honest opinion when needed whilst painting.

So really want im trying to say is...

*Does any one share this AMAZING hobby with a close loved one,>?

*Has tried to include, however has turned them into an Ork Nob?

*Do you believe this is up to the individual (child hood memories)

* Or what ever./>!

Never the less i mentioned it this morning to her, no pressure but and she wanted to really get into the detail to it...and surprised me !

sorry to seem like this is my diary !

but just interested on some opinions...?

When I first started I had an empire army and the wife had an orcs and goblins army, she played, painted and such and was kind of into it. When we moved we ended getting out of it for a while and sold all we had. Since, I've returned to the hobby but my wife really isn't too enthusiastic about it. I'll show her models and she's like "yeah, yeah, whatever." But she lets me cuz it's better than WoW or EQ or something online like that and she knows I really like it. So she's cool enough with it but she doens't really want anything to do with it.

I have been in this hobby ever since 1990. My wife never understood it but I always include her in it the builds and the painting. She doesn't understand the hobby but she knows I like it. I have tried many times to include her in it but she never liked it she has her own things that she collects and likes to do. So just enjoy your hobby and let her be suppportive of it. If you try to force it on her she won't like it let her have her thing and you have yours.

My wife and I have a deal.

I make amazing things for her to paint.

It was actually kinda cool really, she sort of encouraged me to be a better sculptor just by trying to show off.

We both now read the BL books and have lengthy discussions about factoids 40kish.

That said, she has NO interest in playing the table game, she loves the PC games....

Guess I am kinda lucky though

You know now i look at all the people i know......The girl Friends normally HATE building yet love to paint the models......Then won't play the game at all and will kill you if you try to get them too....So uh.....I would say just get her to paint then if she shows interest try to teach her. Other wise you might need to duck and cover.

My girlfriend has no interest in it what so ever, she doesnt want to hear about it or see me doing it, but she is supportive in a kind of far off way.

ask her if she would like to try painting, and give her a few female models. that was the trick that worked for me!

Whilst it is very admirable that you would want to include her in that part of your life, remember that sometimes it is good to have different interests. Simply for the fact that variety has it's uses. But, if she is keen, then great.

I have a rather different scenario to face actually. I have started in 40k gaming from the wrong end, being a PC gamer by default, then finding out about it that and getting into things from there. I am currently considering moving into TT, at least painting to begin with, but am a little concerned as to how the wife, who has had to put up with for nearly 15 years now, will respond if I adopt another past time that focuses my attention on something such as this. An understanding lass she is, but everyone has their limits etc. Unfortunately I am of the generation where the majority of the girlies didn't really get involved in such things in the same way they do now.
