You should really write your own list for us to critique. If we just write you a list a) that'd be netlisting, which is oft frowned upon, and frankly is quite lazy, and b) you won't learn why the units we've told you to use are good, you'll simply go into your games with no idea of how each unit works, get roflstomped by an even remotely competant opponent, and then wonder why the list of mystery doesn't work. Also, when you move on to other armies, you'll have no idea how to build them either, so you might as well learn the first time around
Do you have the book yet? If not, then get that. I just made a quick check on the GW site, two battalions should yield a decent 1000pt army once you add a character (and a bunch of leftover Saurus Cavalry you can use for...bound Cold One units?).
