Default 1000 Points LM Friendly

My friends and I have decided to make the switch from playing 40k to Fantasy and I've chosen Lizardmen as my first army.

Here's my first list:

Scar Veteran w/ Light Armour, Maiming Shield and Burning Blade

Lvl. 2 Skink Priest w/ Rod of the Storm and Plaque of Tepoc

Lvl. 1 Skink Priest w/ Dispel Scroll x2

19 Saurus w/ Spears and Full Command (Scar Vet goes here)

12 Skink Skirmishers

11 Skink Skirmishers

5 Saurus Cavalry w/ Huanchi's Blessed Totem

If my math is right it comes out to 999 Points. I have the extra Priest with the Dispel Scrolls because I'll be playing against VC often and I understand a little extra magic defense never hurts against them.

Thoughts? Suggestions? Advice?

Well, based on their performance on Thursday, I'd say MORE SAURUS!

I dont have my army book on me but ill suggest what i can,

try mounting your Scar Vet on a cold one, extra armour, fear cause and attack. draw back is the stupidity but your cold blooded should deal with that. also if you really want to chase a fleeing enemy down choose to pursue with the vet :D

as for your skink priests, lore of heaven is ok but dont expect to get alot of spells off, and forget it against VC. so maybe take both as scroll caddies.

saurus are your bread and butter, i run two groups of 15 with full comd side by side they can hold and support each other that way and break almost anyone. although avoid stubborn units if possible. and dont be afraid to use HW shield to hold the line, even though your paying for shields.

try taking cold one cavalry in a group of 6, unit strenght 12 win combat and out number for fear auto break.

one unit of skinks should do 12 is a great number

lastly be agressive have a game plan and stick to it, and if possible let them charge you, with spears you should get 21 attacks before deaths so embrace the charge with your saurus... although there are exceptions to every rule..

Thanks. The one thing I've learned from playing a few games now is just how good saurus are. Maybe I'll get another box...

I'll try taking two defensive priests and adding another cavalry. I'm not sure I'm sold on mounting my Scar Vet, though. Just the idea of failing that stupidity test at a key time is making me shudder.

ref the mounted scar vet, out of the last... say 15 games over the last 2 months ive failed two stupidity checks, yet ive had skaven, ogres and even elves and dwarves fail fear checks.

(lol stupid elf swordmasters, yeah you roll 6s to hit )

i can see your fear of it, but even if you do fail it your saurus should be able to take most things that come your way

I say you should drop down to 1 12man skink unit and aybe have 2 15man Saurus units. If you mount the Scar vet on a Cold one and put him in with the saurus cav it becomes an extremely hard hitting unit.
Thats just my 2cents though.
