kill team is type of game that seems to have disappeared along with 4th edition.

basically, one player creates a 160 pt 'killteam', an elite squad to infiltrate an enemy base for some purpose. the other player gets a bunch of 3 man 'brute squads' which wondering around being idiots half the time.

the killteams mission will be something like, execute the enemy leader, plant an explosive on a significant building, or something else that is infiltratey. the brutes mission is to stop him.

i heart kill team..

it was in a recent white dwarf, cadians kill team vs orks and some crappy snotling sentys

The rules can be downloaded from the GW site, it works with the 5th edition rules and is worth a go if you have the time.

It's great for customizing individual models for a bit of fun - whether it's the kill team itself or the brutes (which are basically sentries/guards). It's what I'm looking into myself. I recommend it if you're into designing unique models (conversions, etc), or even naming particular guys in your squads.

when i get round to it ill probably put together a tau pathfinder killteam
with some converted short pulse rifle make it look like a p-90 sort thing

New Kill-Team rules in the Battle Missions book released next month, saw the preview in at my FLGS and it looks like alot of fun. Points bump for one, now where'd i put my PAGKs.....

Default Battle Missions Kill Team Rules

My local GW store has a copy of Battle Missions that we've been using to play some scenarios. We're already planning a Kill Tam campaign using the new book that we can start up at release time. Near the back of the book there are rules for Kill Team, but composition rules are a little different than the old rules.

Kill Teams can be a maximum of 200 points.

Force organization consists of...
  • 0-1 Elites
  • 0-2 Troops
  • 0-1 Fast Attack

From what I read, there are no defined vehicle restrictions either, so you could in essence pack a squad of veterans in a Valkyrie, or drop a Dreadnought in your Kill Team. I think it's an oversight, but we've encountered a lot of those in the book already.

Missions are played until you are reduced to below 50% of your starting force.

Each Kill Team can have up to three models that can be given special abilities. These are the standard abilities like Fearless, Relentless, Furious Charge, Fleet, etc. There is a blurb about modeling these special characters to represent their ability, but of course it's optional.

I'll try to add more the next time I'm in and absorb some more details, but for now you all can start retooling your Kill Teams to the above listed points and force organization.
