Default IG Kill Team

A few friends and I are gonna start playing kill teams. I thought about IG first and here is my list:

Vet Squad - 120 pts
Vet SGT (LEADER, Feel no Pain)
Autocannon (Relentless)
7 Gaurdsman (w/ 1 Meltagun and 2 Plasma guns)

Rattling Squad - 40 pts
4 Snipers

Sentinel - 40 pts
w/ Autocannon (Preferred Enemy)

Please let me know if I did this right and what you think of it. I have a good amount of long range fire power and some close up as well. I put preferred enemy on the sentinel so it has a better chance of hitting. Also, it will usually only fail to wound on 1s against most troops so I wanted to make the model as deadly as possible.

If I recall correctly, vehicles cannot become specialists. So your sentinel is not legal.
A suggestion i might give you is, since FNP is going to be negated from any St 6 weapon (a grenade launcher, that is...), if you want some extra survivability for your squishy leader, you could go for the Daemonic Special Rule, gaining Fear and a 5++, or Psionic going for Biomancy or Pyromancy for extra nastiness.
And, how comes that you are not fielding Marbo?? He basically is a nest of carnivore ants trown in the face of the enemy kill team. Have fun with KT!!

EDIT: Remember that relentless prohibits your autocannon term to snapshot when charged. just say'n

The ruling in the battle missions book is simply "Each player is allowed to pick up to three different models in their army as being 'specialists'..."
Nowhere does it say that walkers or vehicles cannot be specialists.

If the list is for a friendly kill team then yes, I'd agree with neferhet that Daemonic or psyker are good rules to go for. However, if it is for a tourny they usually have restrictions as to which rules you can have. I'd check with the event organiser to make sure. I only say this as I know the ones at Warhammer world don't let you have either rule.

Marbo is quite a good edition, but takes up a lot of points (for kill teams), cannot infiltrate onto the board and at the end of the day, is only one model. With every model able to aim at something different, it only takes one str 6 weapon to bring him down while everything else blows up what's left.

Not sure what you mean by "Prohibits to snapshot when charged" Neferhet. Are you saying relentless prevents you from snapshoting? Because that is slow and purposeful that does that, relentless by itself is fine, you can move, shoot, charge and fire overwatch.

“Insane? You dare to claim that we are insane? I find this very amusing. You see, there is no such thing as sanity. Why? Because the nature of sanity depends on the context the term is used. A man living in squalor may call the rich man insane for wasting food, while the rich man in return may call the poor insane for living off his waste. You slaughter thousands and squander the resources of planets on foolish incursions to please a corpse and his corrupted followers. And you have the nerve to call me insane? Oh poor misguided individual, pray to whatever deity you serve and hope he is merciful, for those who find themselves trapped in the spiders web have little else they can do”

Here is the rules we are using: http://www.games-workshop.com/MEDIA_...k_2013_(6).pdf

I don't know where they are from but they were used for a tournament somewhere. Phsyker and demonic possession are not on the list of USR I can use.

I never thought about Marbo but he may be a bit over priced for the game. I use him to pop in and throw a demo charge on tanks or a mass of infantry but that won't work in this game. Everything will be spread out. Also, I've never seen it stated anywhere that relentless can't take snapshots. And I just checked the relentless special rule in the BRB.

That is because they can.

Unfortunately Canada got rid of the penny and now my two cents rounds down to zero, so...take it for what you will.

Yes sorry, my bad. I was using the Italian Rulebook and made confusion with the translation. It is slow and purposeful that does not allow you to overwatch.
About marbo, well it depends on your enemy kill team. If they take horde maybe you are right, but if they go elite heavy (and numbers low) then he will be really evil. I've found that putting him in cover into pieplate range of the objective can be really effective in the last turn.
About the vehicles: when i participated a kill team tourney it was one of the rules... I must assume then it was an organizer's add on! In fact neither in "operation Protinus" nor in the new GW file there is any reference to this limitation...not even the in faq...well, it appears that i was babbling around :D
Sorry for the confusion i have in my head..sometimes the warp overtakes me.

There's a lot of rules to remember, even without translating. We've all done it at some point

I'm still finding out that I've been screwing up rules and playing the game wrong. I don't play in tournaments so it hasn't really been an issue.

I played two games with my list last night and it worked well. The first list I played against my roommate used 2 land speeders one with 2 heavy bolters and 1 with a h bolter and an auto cannon. He gave one the stealth special rule and the other he gave shrouded. It took me a few turns to kill both but I did thanks to my auto cannons and plasma gun. The second battle he had 6 stern guard. 1 lascannon, 1 h bolter, 1 sgt, 1 combi melta, 1 combi flamer, and 1 combi plasma. That gave went to turn 5 when I finally killed his last model. But I had him at half strength round 3. He just stayed in range of his weapons and tried to out shoot me. The auto cannons and snipers won the day.

So here is my slightly modified new list:

Vet squad - 110 pts
Vet SGT (leader)
Autocannon (shrouded)
2 plasma guns (1 with preferred enemy)
5 guardsmen

Sentinel - 40 pts
Autocannon (stealth)

5 rattling snipers - 50 pts

The snipers, autocannons, and plasma guns are the strength of my list. Good amount of long range fire power that can take on light armor and still put out a good amount of shots. My 5 guardsmen and sgt can go grab objectives. My 2 autocannons will be difficult to kill with 2+ and 3+ cover saves (in ruins). And since my snipers are BS 4 with stealth at 10 points a piece I considered taking 4 more and dropping the sentinel but the 2 shots at 48" and str 7 make it difficult. I still might add a third plasma gun and 2 more sniper and drop the sentinel.
