Default First ever KT Eldar versus IG

Please help guys, playing my first KT match next weak versus Guard.

Firstly, three questions on rules:

Do unit composition rules apply (e.g can I take two dire avengers)?

Are HQs allowed?

Which special rules can you choose from and do they apply to the entire unit?

Secondly, here's what I've got:

16 Dire Avengers and an Exarch

6 Striking Scorpions

5 Pathfinders

3 Jetbikes

Wave Serpent

War Walker

Farseer on jetbike

3 Warlocks on jetbikes

1 Warlock without Jetbike

One Autarch

One Farseer

I'm probably going for mostly Avengers, and either a Serpent or if I can take him, my seer on his Jetbike. If composition rules don't apply, I can take a single Warlock.

I know I will be facing either a Leman Russ, a Chimera or possibly another tank.

Please help!

When I die, I want to go peacefully, in my sleep, like my Grandfather did.

Not screaming in pain like the passengers in his car.

I thought the composition rules still applied here, but dont hold me to that! I have never done it personally.

Tanks win battles, infantry win firefights, artillery win wars.

Okay, so at the moment my list is:

6 DA (2 with Stealth): 72

Wave Serpent (Deep Strike)
Twin SC, Spirit stones, Star engines,: 125

197 points

Wave Serpent Deepstrikes with DA, Serpent uses stones to ram his tank (I think it's a Chimera, I know it's Fast Attack).

Next turn, Avengers drop out and fire on the Veterans. Serpent targets the seargeant. Stealth people move onto cover.

Should stop him, I just don't know how good veterans are.

I hope I get 1st turn, or ramming the tank will mean taking damage back.

Alright, I can't speak for your group's rules, but I can tell you how our group plays Kill Teams, and I don't think we stray particularly far from the base-line, but anyhow:

-unit restrictions apply, so if you were buy tactical marines, you'd be stuck buying 5

-special rules that a model might be granted only effect that model - if the rule is said to effect the unit this model is supposed to belong to in a normal game, we fudge it, and apply that special rule to any model within 3 inches of the model with the special rule. (again, I can't speak to the way your group plays it, but we play KT a lot in our group, and this is how we've come to play this rule, just to add flavor and variety to our experiences)

-the specialist rules can only be taken from the "Universal Special Rules" section of the BRB, additionally, you can only take each rule once (so you can give Stealth to 1 model, and must take another USR for your other specialist)

-this probably doesn't apply, but in our group we have a gentleman's agreement to avoid units that have AV in Kill Teams. At that point scale we just feel like vehicles really skew the whole experience

*edit
-missed your some of your first post, no HQ's are not allowed - pity as I'd love to take my BA Honor Guard all kitted out, but alas..

I hope some of that helps - KT can vary incredibly between gaming groups so it's really up to how yours plays.
