I enjoy making lists like this, one of my favorite things to do really, apart from assaulting with Guardsmen. Tell me what you think!

why not use the Elysian list?, then you can go proper aircav instead of pretend aircav.

For several reasons, actually. Firstly, people at my FLGS do not usually recognize non-GW rules. Secondly, "pretend aircav" lets me take more valks (130 pts per instead of 190), not to mention BS 4 vets as troops, astropaths and my favorite IG character, Straken.

I realize that squadding valks is not ideal, but it gives me the opportunity to field 6 of them, and it forces me to be fluffy in game situations (aircraft don't fly randomly about the battlefield, they deploy in groups).

I've heard that FW are working on a pdf that will bring Valks etc into line with the IG Codex, so similar to what they did with the earlier IA's.

As far as the list, it's ok, although I don't think spending 230 pts on the Medi-pack, Bodyguards and Doctrines is worth it....barebones units but more of them is the way to build IG lists.

Still, Air-Cav lists are very good IF they get the alpha-strike, so best of luck with it

It's missing a bit of Plasma. I'd take a couple of Deep Striking Plasma Gun Storm Troopers to try and Pin some of the more shooty infantry units which people take to counter the Units.

And yes, personal opinion is biased as I play them, but Elysian's from IA8 is the way to roll Air Cav. Deep Striking Multimelta sentinels, Vulture's, and Ground Scanners, and Deep Striking Guard Blobs. Hell yes.

Which book are you looking at?
In IA3 valks are 140 pts with no weapons and MRPs are 50 pts.

EDIT: Just found IA8. I'll look into it :D
