Default 500 pts of guard

Well my friend and I are doing an escilation campaign and he is going necron and I am growing my guard, so to start we are doing a 500 ots battle roll for type when we get together with a 4x4 tablr.
My list is .
Co Command - 62 pt
Capt - bolter
Sniper rifle
Mortar
Troops
Platoon Command - 65
plasma pistol, x2 plasma guns and a vox
-Inf sqaud x2 with grenade launcher and vox 120 (60 each)

Veterans - 110
Grenadiers

Hvy weapons x3 ML and x3 AC

I was thinking of dropping the grenade launchers from the platoon and giving them to the vets and then merging the platoons as joint squads. Also toying eith the idea of dropping the hvy weapons for a LRBT, I figured more shots was better though.
Co Commander will support the hvy weapon teams with orders the vets and inf platoon with advance to secure objectives.

Thoughts?

I would suggest the LRBT over the heavy weapon squads since strength 6 shots will decimate your teams, but probably do nothing against the tank.

Besides that it looks okay.

Old aunts used to come up to me at weddings, poke me in the ribs and cackle, telling me, "You're next." They stopped after I started to do the same thing to them at funerals.

ye go for the LRBT, also drop the plasma pistols on the command squad, they are to short range to do anything useful as if you are in that range that squad is pretty much f**ked anyway, and they could kill your guys.

and defiantly give the vets the grenade launchers, the normal squads don't have a big enough BS to make them worth anything but a flamer.

I'll give a couple of different viewpoints -

- at least you have the Plasma Pistol in the unit that's best suited for it, which is basically the unit that has other Plasma weaponry. That said, I would give the PCS either 4 Flamers or 4 GL's instead of the Plasma weaponry. Flamers especially are very efficient on standard Guardsmen because the pooorer BS is totally negated.

- I would drop the Grenadiers (4+ Cover Saves are easy enough to find so the Doctrine is a waste of points) and pay for Meltaguns for the Vets....giving Vets GL's is as much a waste of the best BS we have available as giving them Sniper Rifles and Flamers.

- I would also get the LRBT...AV14 is pretty hardarse at 500 pts and it's a good all-rounder. But I would play some games with both the HWS's and with a LRBT and see how they pan out before deciding.
