The harvest arrives.
penultimate part in my storyline.
The skies above the world opened up as a storm cloud approached. Electrical energy flickered along the horizon and the populace looked up in wonder. A small group of adeptus mechanicus craft rode the crest of the storm, almost as if they were racing. Breaking all protocols it refused all of the hails from the main station on Mars and the defence batteries turned to open fire. The ship ordered a hail and hurriedly showed high clearance, telling the planet to be ready for the arrival of the Necron storm.
The storm broke upon the atmosphere and thousands of necron ships emerged, the largest fleet ever seen by the human eye. Huge gauss batteries ripped down destroying the defence batteries before they could even begin to target the ships. The necron ships landed on the rubble of the gun sites, and millions of troops and vehicles moved out towards the Noctis Labyrinthus. The Arch Magos’ ship was the first thing to be destroyed, a mighty tombship landing on it, crushing its occupants.
The C’tan floated ahead of the army twisting their forms to dodge fire from thousands of super heavy vehicles and titans. The whole forces of Mars were moving out to defend their land. A solid wall of gauss ripped into the lines of baneblades, blowing off weaponry and exploding their engines. Masses of necrons died from each shot of the superheavies, not standing up as usual but disappearing as they phased out to wait in their tombships.
The Nightbringer cut through ranks of skittari, their weapons and armour irrelevant to him. The Outsider twisted the terrain in front of him, screaming troops dropping to their knees in horror at his presence. The Deceiver moved on, oblivious to everything, he waved his hand and the metal doors in front of him blew open.
“come out come out where ever you are he cackled”
A squad of skittari came out, heavy weapons raised in defiance. A metallic noise behind them caused half of the squad to turn round as a cloaked figure walked forward on dozens of metallic legs. I don’t think they would work very well my children he crooned. Better that he can feed on your essence, the weakling. The skittari spun round as the Deceiver whipped his robes over the squad, ripping them to shreds.
“ Finally I feel ready to enter the world of the living “ it yawned. “ and for all this time they thought I was trapped, sleeping. But no I was feeding on their metal, fused with skin, you should try it weakling.
The Deceiver sneered “maybe I will, but we need your expertise out there, we appear to be losing.”
The void dragon sighed “ If I must” gliding out of the complex he slowly grew in size until he was as large as a warlord titan. His hands moved in complicated motions and the vehicles stopped working. Looking down he smiled and his voice boomed towards the C’tan, “now the fun starts” The vehicles turned towards their masters and raised their weapons, obliterating masses of troops, small vehicles and buildings. Stopping them again he aimed the titans weapons to the core of the planet and left them firing once more. The necrons shuffled and scurried back to the tomb ships, ready to be carried away at their masters bidding.
The C’tan met on the ruins of a warhound, the void dragon back to a more reasonable size now. The Deceiver hung back, ever cautious of his weakness compared to his brothers. The Outsider did not speak to his brothers but merely garbled unintelligible words to his voices. Only the Nightbringer and the Void Dragon spoke, at exactly the same time, they whispered “the harvest has arrived, the time for reaping is at hand.
As their ships moved off the titans shuddered as the energy pummelling into the planet ripped the core apart. The explosion was seen on all of the stations and planets in the solar system, and the people of Terra wondered what this meant for them.
