I see no problem with female Marines, though they would not likely be an off-shoot of a known chapter. That's not saying you could not use the models or rules as they could have developed a similar fighting style. As Iron Angel said, they could come from a planet currently unknown to the Imperium; isolated by a shroud of warp storms or on some fringe of the galaxy. Perhaps the planet developed its own genetic engineering technology. Maybe their Marines are split among males and females as both genders are altered and augmented. Being isolated from the Imperium means they have to fend for themselves and both genders could develop along a similar physical progression. But basically, while Imperium Marines are all male, there are other human civilisations out there that could develop female Marines.
Space Marines are a specifically Imperial thing though. No other human society ever had (or does) posses them. It took the intellect of the Emperor himself to design them. Besides one would need gene-seed to create Space Marines, something only available from the Imperium and it isn't just handed out.

Other human societies developed gene-enhanced warriors, or developed power armour but never full Adeptus Astartes. They're too complex, require too many unique process and developments.

As i said before, feel free to say your Space Marines are female but they won't look any different from male Space Marines and there's no fluff precedent or (good) explanation.

They also give us a comprehensive game system, in depth lore and highly detailed miniatures.

Yet still so many people believe they have the right to demand more.

Anyways...

Let me be frank. Female Space Marines will never happen in any official lore. That's all there is to it. The Imperium will not do it. Chaos will not do it (at least not in any way we'd want).

That said, your fluff will also never be official. So do what you want with it. Make female astartes. Make female Primarchs. Make up whatever you want. But if it isn't taken seriously, I'm sure you'll be able to understand why.

Do what ever the hell you like, and if you can pull of such a project to any level of excellence then all the better. In fact I recommend you continue on with this project just so you can drink the sweet tears of all the fluff nazis that will rage eternally against your army.

Yeh way off. SoB are just human women in armour, the idea of SM is they are super human, some thinking that to be a super human you need to be male.

We need a local celebrity to declare this can of worms officially open.

Again.

Now this would be an interesting, original idea. Deep fried space marines in a crispy golden coating. The tyranids would be so happy.

That's actually commonplace in scotland. Deep-fried Astartes is the latest craze, after deep-fried butter.
