Default The Hobbit, a New Table Top Game?

So I have started this thread to find answer's to a few questions on the new minaitures from GW based on the new Hobbit trilogy. I have done very limited reading into the matter and was wondering whether or not the game is a seperate entity or if it is part of the LOTR Table Top gaming system?

Additionally are their any changes from the origional LOTR TT system that has been in place for so long. How many new miniatures are they offering, is their a Rulebook I have to purchase? Price differences, if any, between 40k and origional LOTR

Finally how popular is this new series; will it pick up for die? Does it have the stamina of it's predessecor, or will it eventually slow down once the series is complete? your thoughts, comments, suggestion gents.
