5x Termis [250]

Dreadknight [235]

Dreadknight [235]
-Personal Teleporter
-Heavy Incinerator

Total:2000

This list is based around the Librarian's Summoning power, Grand Strategy, and the first turn. It can actually be played two ways. If I feel like winning then I would give the Dreadknights scoring and use them conservatively and then shunt last turn to grab an objective. If I feel like having more fun (and I have first turn) then I would give them scout and shunt them to get a 1st turn assault.

Mordak and the Libby come down first turn with the Ghost knights and hide somewhere in cover. The libby casts Shrouding so they will have a 2+ cover save which should keep them alive. Everything else would be deployed somewhere out of sight or deep in cover. Starting 2nd turn, the Librarian would begin to summon the units to him. If I need close combat support then the termis would come first. If I need some ranged power to open up transports then the Puris and dread would be summoned.

This actually leads me to a rules question. Can you use non-shooting psychic powers if you are locked in close combat? (the summoning)

Do you think this list would actually win a game? Or should it be left to being more fun than serious? What would you change to make it game winning (if its even possible)?

You still scatter when you use the summoning, that alone could make or break your army in most games.

You can Summon in CC but you Scatter which makes you a sad panda when your units get destroyed.

Also if you want to save yourself 20 points to be used elsewhere, combine the two identical terminator squads into one 10 man squad. Same weapon load-outs, you only pay for Psybolt once and you still have the option to combat squad that unit depending on the victory conditions of the battle.

EDIT: I just realized those are your only troops, so only use my suggestion if you feel like dropping a Dreadknight for a Strike Squad or more Terminators. Just off the top of my head, combining the two Terminator squads, dropping a Dreadknight and MC off the Libby's staff and the Pruifier's hammer, and adding a basic Strike Squad (10 man) with two Psycannons in a Rhino with a Warp Stabilization Field could be just as effective with your strategy of using Summoning. And I believe the points iron back out to 2000.

So without repeating all your load-outs the list would look like this:

Mordrak
5 x Ghost Knights
Librarian
10 x Terminators (option to split into combat squads)
10 x Strike Squad (option to split into combat squads if you really needed to plus you can still summon the rhino with the whole squad)
- Rhino
6 x Purifiers
- Razorback
Dreadnought
Dreadknight

Yeah I realized my mistake there right after I posted. I edited my response with a suggested alternative.

Thanks for the quick catch.

Librarians can take tele homers which are a must for this list. Also, does Stealth stack? IE Ghost Knights and shrouding.

Also I would like to note, as sweet as Dread Knights are, and as much as I want one myself. Every game I have seen one played in, the opponent shoots in down by turn 2. It has so much hype around it, it never gets to show its stuff. If you can find a way to get it stuck in, lemme know.

No, a unit that has stealth cannot benefit from gaining stealth again, it already has it.

So its looking like this idea is a bit of a flop. Its a shame that such a cool ability is made useless by a lack of control. I believe teleport homers dont work on the summoning, right?

As far as the dreadknight goes, the most fun way ive ever gotten them into combat was giving them scout and using the 30" shunt during the scout phase then assaulting first turn.

You're probably right whoever said shrouding and the ghost knights stealth wont stack. Why are there so many stacking issues in this codex?!

I think Im gonna have to scrap this list, unless anyone can think of a way to salvage it.

@Ninja D. Im not a huge fan of the SSs unless they are in small 5 man obj holding squads
