Default 1750 The Summoning tournie

I have become very bored with the repetitive competitive GK lists which are either purifier spam or corteaz + henchmen, so I tried put together a list which is actually fun to play and should (i hope) do well competitively.

HQ

Libby
- summoning
- sanctuary
- shrouding
- quicksilver
- Might of titan
- 2 servo skulls
- teleporter
= 200

Champion

Elite

5 Paladins
1. Psycannon, sword
2. Psycannon, halberd
3. Halberd
4. Sword
5. Hammer
= 315

Vindicare

Troops

10 Strikers
- 2 psycannons
- hammer
- Rhino with warp stabilization field
= 270

10 Strikers
- 2 psycannons
- hammer
- psyammo
= 245

Fast Attack

Storm Raven
- TL multi melta

Heavy Support

Dread
- 2 TL autocannons
- Psyammo
= 135

Dread
- TL autocannons
- Assualt cannon
- Psyammo
= 135

Total - 1750

The plan
load up the paladins, libby and assualt cannon dread in the storm raven which zooms up the field. I opted for paladins over purifiers mainly because this list depends and the libby staying alive and they make for a pretty tough entourage.

The dread needs some explaining, I know the popular choice is the rifleman dread but this one will be right up in the enemy's face thanks to the storm raven so the advantage of range range autocannons would be redundant and the fact that the assault cannon is rendering will help bring down heavier things. There are 2 reasons that a dread will be running with the paladins + libby, firstly he could serve as a fire magnet pulling shots away from the paladins and my all important libby and secondly with reinforced aegis and the libby's hood he will be a pretty potent psychic defense from things like lash which would counter the paladins very easily.

The rifleman dread and the vindicare are obviously for long range support and will hopefully affect the enemy's deployment which is very important for the storm raven team to be used to maximum efficiency.

The libby can summon 2 units per turn and they won't scatter thanks to the teleporter homer, the idea here is just to be able to adapt to what I need to do in each situation.

I will be the first to admit that it's not perfect but I think it could work quite nicely, let me know what you think.

For me Summoning just has too high a chance of detonating your own face or punting your unit into reserves if you scatter badly. I'm not a fan, but hey it might work for you.

The Grey Knight Teleport Homer doesn't work on Summoning.

Not entirely. The Strike Squads have the Deep Strike Rules. So if you save points on the Rhino, invest in Psybolt ammo in its place (plus your other freed up points), and hold your guys in reserve; you can Deep Strike all of them within 6 inches of the Librarian without scatter.

On another not, I believe that you can use the Teleport Homer while inside the Stormraven. Can someone please confirm or deny this?

I don't see why not effects are measured from the hull in that case. That said it's measured from the hull, and the Storm Raven is way off the table so you'll be lucky to be in range of anywhere on the table.

But with no Psyhic Communion you're relying on pretty unreliable Reserves. Then if you have a Everything either in a Storm Raven or in reserves you'll find yourself sans a Storm Raven very quickly.

Well as Aramoro pointed out I don't to risk poor reserve rolls plus if I could use summoning safely I would still always have the models on the table

I'm really quite stumped what to do now anyone got some ideas?

Why does the Teleport homer not work for the summoning? I've looked it over several times and that strat has made it into a few of my list.

Because of the words in the book.

Oh I agree completely, I was just trying to give you a way to salvage your army idea.

I think it is possible with Mordrak with attached Libby to get there first turn and then Psy Com to help Deep Strike in the rest of the army.
