Ghosts of Mortain - 2,000pts

Hi, this is my first crack at a 2,000pt army list from the new Grey Knights codex.

HQ - 500

Grand Master Mordrak
Ghost Knights (5)
Inquisitor Coteaz

TR - 525

Death Cult Assassins (11)
Death Cult Assassins (12)
Death Cult Assassins (12)

FA - 705

Stormraven - Twin-Linked Lascannon, Twin-Linked Multi-Melta, Hurricane Bolters
Stormraven - Twin-Linked Lascannon, Twin-Linked Multi-Melta, Hurricane Bolters
Stormraven - Twin-Linked Lascannon, Twin-Linked Multi-Melta, Hurricane Bolters

HS - 270

Dreadknight - Greatsword, Heavy Psycannon, Personal Teleporter

Total - 2,000

The Death Cults will be transported in the Stormravens, with Coteaz joining the first squad. Mordrak, and his Ghosts, will be using the 'First to the Fray' rule to deep strike accurately on turn one. The Dreadknight will use his Teleporter to keep up with the army.

Any comments or queries are encouraged, as this is my first Grey Knight list. Thanks!

I recommend dropping the Heavy Psycannon from the NDK. At least till the FAQ comes out. Currently, when you add a Teleporter to the NDK it becomes Jump Infantry, not a Monstrous Creature. This means that you can't move, shoot a heavy weapon and assault.

Other then that looks fun. And like an expensive list to build.

Luckily, I have a load of spare Dark Eldar Wyches that I bought, before I realised they were rubbish and died all the time. I'm going to repaint them and use them as my Death Cult Assassins. ;)

Hi, here is the updated version of my list;

HQ - 525

Grand Master Mordrak
Ghost Knights (5)
Nemisis Force Halberds (5)
Brotherhood Banner
Inquisitor Coteaz

TR - 525

Death Cult Assassins (11)
Death Cult Assassins (12)
Death Cult Assassins (12)

EL - 290

Vindicare Assassin
Vindicare Assassin

FA - 660

Stormraven - Twin-Linked Multi-Melta, Twin-Linked Lascannon, Extra Armour
Stormraven - Twin-Linked Multi-Melta, Twin-Linked Lascannon, Extra Armour
Stormraven - Twin-Linked Multi-Melta, Twin-Linked Lascannon, Extra Armour

Total - 2,000

The Dreadknight, for me, didn't seem to fit well with the army, so it has been replaced with two Vindicares. These can take out expensive enemy Seargents and HQs alike, negating invulnerable saves with the Shield-Breaker ammo. The Stormravens are becoming my tank-hunting units, so I ditched the Hurricanes. This freed up points for Extra Armour, which they needed badly. For the final changes, I upgraded the the Ghost Knights' Swords to Halberds, for that awesome initiative bonus of two. I also added a Brotherhood Banner to the Ghost Knights, purely because it rounded up my total nicely.

If you have any comments, I'd like to here them. Thanks for reading!

Vindicares are Unique so you can only have 1 of them.

You don't really need the Extra Armour on your StormRavens as you have Fortitude.

excuse us for playing by the rules

I totally agree that its retarded and a silly mistake to have made. Sadly, it was made and we have to live with it until they fix it.

Just sayin but...at least in my gaming group, if a rule (such as this dreadknight = jump infantry nonsense and the Coteaz stuff) is collectively thought of as clearly being in the wrong, we just play as what it should be. Definitely talk to your local gaming group before taking it though.
