120 Gretchin FML!

So i played my first game against my friend who is just starting out with orc. He's paper testing his army before he buys actual models. He decided to try a true horde army and used 120 gretchen, 9 artilary, and a boss of mek nobs. HOLY SHIT! that was a lot of dice rolling. After 3 hours later it ended on turn 6 with me holding two objectives and him having 1. GO CHAOS! but that was a wicked game of strategy and just shear shooting. Has anyone else ever played a game against that many little units? how did you guys fair against the horde? I personally hated it. It was too much dice rolling, to much little piddly getting tied up in CC where he couldn't even hurt me while he kept passing his leardership tests.
No thank you

woog out!

Its exactly why I hate horde armies. Far too much die rolling for yourself, and your opponant tends to get pissed off waiting for you too, and too much 'swamping' with units that get in the way of everyone.

Lol, I used to play a 120 Cultist Carpet with my Alpha Legion in the last ed.
It was quite successful.

It was great fun but I can see how it would be annoying to play against, CC if I got there was time comsuming on the rolling.

How's 180 Boyz for size? (or 205 w/ painboy in my Green Tide ). I LOVE horde armies, because your opponent simply never has enough guns.

If someone lacks intelligence, than he is not stupid, because one cannot be stupid without intelligence.

If someone reverts to having to complain about your grammar, then you already won.

I have played against a tyranid horde with my Sanguinary guard army and barley killed him in a annihilation mission. Blood claws FTW

120 gretchin? sounds like it would be a funny match because of the shear stupidity/balls to use that many gretchin. that said. my Noise Marines would love them.

I've never been fortunate enough to deal with that many dudes but I look forward to it with my 3 machine spirit Vindicators.

movement trays are useful for armies like that. A self loading, semiautomatic air powered dice cannon would be cool too. Slightly dangerous and the risk of collateral damage is high, but dice rolling would be quicker, well, at least the actual rolling. Not so much for counting the hit/misses or /damage/saves as the dice might be lodged in your opponents chest, skull and neck areas or even the wall behind them. Maybe use a regulator to adjust the muzzle velocity. I'll work on that...

I'll suggest the movement trays. I'm pretty sure he was just being an ass. He never did get into close combat with my berzerkers so he didn't get to see how many of those gretchen i can take down in one turn of CC against WS 2 lol. As far as the dice cannon goes, let me know when you've perfected that, or before, sometimes people just deserve to lose an eye.

Ahh, cultists... I love that codex!

Sounds good though, would love to see pictures when he does get an army if he sticks to Gretchins!
