Default Uniqueness

Hey guys,

My friend wants to start a new army, so I offered to help, but I got stuck when he told me the requirements, these are it.

MUST be unique
Can't be cheesy (nob bikers)
Can't be uber expensive (jetbike armies)

He hates playing armies other people play, so the following armies aren't allowed.

General eldar
Dark Eldar

He is currently thinking about BL or DA ravenwing, but are they competitive/expensive?

Tell him to give up playing Warhammer if those are his requirements.

Every army is going to be expensive one way or the other.

From my experience not many people play DA or BT and they are pretty unique and fun, not too expensive I don't think either. Possible not the most competitive though but they have just been updated in the new faq (?) I think.

Tau is another more unique option, not many people tend to play them.

I would say GK but they get an update soon so won't be unique once that is released.

Ya but if he want a competative, cheap and non-cheesy army then he can rule out almost every army in the game

What he said ^

Those 'Requirements' are over the top, unecessary and halfwitted.
Do you or him actually think you'll get anywhere doing that?
No offence and all that jazz but he should just quit while he's behind.

I don't think Black Legion and unique really go together...

Nob bikers aren't 'cheesy'. They're fail. Plus there's no such thing as cheese, just things you can't figure out how to beat.

That list is also redonkulous.

Have him play deathwing or something. Not amazingly cheap, but the bitz are out there...

Honestly, though, any cheap to collect effective army is going to be popular.

Shit, tau aren't the most expensive army to play, but they have exactly one decent build, which might turn him off.

Tell him he's boned.

I 'm confused, chaos is off the list but he's thinking black legion? The ultramarines of chaos?

Anyways, tell him to play nids. cost will be average, go for it. The starter box isn't that horrible for that army either, or so I think....

4,220 CSM
2,320 Necrons
1,870 eldar
1,000 witch hunters (trying to get rid of this)
1,000 SM (trying to get rid of this)
680 Tau (newest addition)

so nothing cliche of poor quality and shoddy exists?, I'm shocked

if your friend doesn't want to play those armies and wants advice on something else you've come to the wrong place for advice judging by the unhelpful asshole like comments you've already received.

if he wants to do BL (despite not wanting chaos) or ravenwing tell him to go for it, they are no more expensive than any other army GW makes (so yes they are expensive, thats the hobby for you) and competetive is all about learning how you use them and make them competetive, but I'm sure there might be one or two people who might actually be bothered to help on that topic instead of being asses.

but tell him not to hold his hopes up.
