Default What would make you quit the hobby?

I was wondering if you are aware of any circumstance that would make you give up the hobby?

I have been around the hobby for over 20 years now and unless GW go under i cant see any reason to change that, but some people feel age is an issue, some people think money is a factor, for others it might be lack of time.

Do you see anything in your future that might force your hand and give up the hobby, not just 40k either i mean "the hobby" or the part you enjoy the most.

Have you left and returned ? why did you come back to it? do you regret the brake from the hobby?

I took a break from the hobby when i moved in with my Ex, she was very anti GW, she saw the hobby as a waste of money, eventually after allowing her to indulge in her hobby i got back into the game, lukily i have "given" my brother my eldar and paints, which he stored for me, the paints were fecked but the brushes, tools and models were all great, but i have heard stories of people kicking the hobby into touch and selling up everything only to return after a few years and being shocked how much they had to shell out just to rebuild what they had sold.

So any stories or opinions?

i'd have to say if someone stole my entire collection of models that would really do it for me.
then there is the other side which is i probably wouldn't get anytime to do my hobby much due to working and being busy.
but if i am to kick the hobby away for a few years i would give it to my brother or some very good friend. that way i can always get back into it without ripping a hole in my pocket to rebuild the armies.

I gave up at 17 because I was never going to have room to store anything at University.

I think it was the right move to stop then, although I regret having sold literally my entire collection - sort of. It was huge (3000pts plus of more or less every 40k army and half of the fantasy ones) but mostly painted fairly terribly and the money I got was useful.

Started again at 20 and think that I'm doing the hobby much more justice now, both in playing and in modelling/painting. A fresh slate, if you will.

If I was to quit the hobby in future then it would be because I have children and can't afford it, or if the game becomes so freaking unbalanced it makes me sick to see. Given that balance seems to be improving as time moves on, I'll probably have a break for 10 years when I have kids, then I'll get my son into it with me!

90% of people think they are above average.

Statistically Improbable. Psychologically Inevitable.

If GW jacks its prices up Im gone....I got better things to spend money on...like a new computer for example. Though I will admit it would take a lot of price jacking so I doubt I'll be dropping the hobby anytime soon.

Unless GW went and retcon'ed the entire 40k universe I can't see myself getting out of the hobby. I like all aspects of it.

They would really have to destroy all of the fluff for 40k for me to get out of it.

I quit at 17 because of peer pressure/lack of friends still playing etc, then at 25 I got back into it. Funny the way things go...

If I somehow stop giving a shit. Otherwise I already have my army bought, for the most part, so until they release new SW models GW can rise their prices as much as they want.

The Website kept telling me that my profile was only 80% complete without creating a signature. Ain't no website going to tell me I was a lazy shit, no sir.

Further simplification of the rules. Oh hold on... I haven't played in nearly 3 years. Perhaps I already quit.
