Default Help, creating a new race, Help

Yeh so I'm creating a race that was once connected to the imperium, but long ago lost contact they took there weapons and technology and created there own. (Havent decided on a name yet) for the models I plan on using the imperial guard codex, but using the heavy infantry from pig iron productions, so what do you think?

are they usable or should i just crush my dreams? need C&C for this here's a link.

http://www.pig-iron-productions.com/...antry-c-5.html

so wat do ya think will it work or not cuase im kinda scectipal about it. Anyway let me know.

p.s didnt know if this is the right topic or section?

It can be done, veterans with carapace armor are a troop choice, so no worries. Take a look at my own abhuman race:

Krygans: A humanoid alien race, most likely of ancient human origin. Wears full armor and protective helmets, mostly fashioned after a skull. Explorers, mercenaries and corsairs, no home planet found up to date.

Note: commonplace confused with ab-humans, which they may be, but an extremely ancient variant. Came to existence around 45-55.000 years ago, during the copper age. Most likely abducted by aliens, possibly eldar/slann. Reasons unknown. Developed isolated, and thus different than humans on earth.

Jetblack leathery skin and bright yellow iris color. Skin is almost like a rhino's hide. With thicker skin around organs and other crucial parts of the body. Extremely muscular bodies and innate psychic abilities. Seems to be genetically modified, as all of them have these traits.

Their technology is extremely advanced, and appears to be a mixture of eldar and necron technology. For they use both wraithbone and necrodermis(living metal).

They have strong emotions, and praise valor and courage. They are known to welcome heroes of other races into their societies. Martial arts are commonplace and they have a highly militaristic culture.

They are low in number, but extremely dangerous to those who oppose them.

Maybe it will inspire you, you can also do this, by claiming they were a thriving colony during the Dark age of technology, but were lost thereafter, and only recently rediscovered.

Cheers

It could work mate. Maybe the planet was taken in a warp storm and spat out in another time, the human colonised there having changed from what they were to adapt to their survival needs.

Or just have a distant planet that has fended for itself since it was abandoned during the heresy, say it was on the other end of the galaxy like near the ghoul stars. They could have been a researching planet or something, and so have retained their knowledge of technology and expanded on it. They do not suffer from technophobia like the imperium, so they have access to more powerful weaponry. They could have sub-Astartes that were unable to attend the heresy itself, and from them the civilisation has been able to create sub-astartes. Whilst not as powerful as normal astartes, they have a greater access to better weaponry.

Hope this helps.

And you could use Imperial Guard heads instead of the helmets, only captains wearing the helmets as they would be ancient relics.

You could have normal men, similar to imperial guard, but have the sub-astartes fight alongside them, they are the elite of the army, rather than a different army entirely.

I'll help with fluff if you need it.

Names for the sub-astartes could be something like...

1. Bellators (Latin for warrior)
2. Spartans
3. Polemistis (Greek for warrior)
4. Achashverosh

Googling things like "words for warrior" can bring lots of ideas.

That's not what I meant, but you could do that. What I means was you still get the 10 man squad (could be even more or less, up to you) but they operate within the rest of the army.

So you get like a 30 troop squad of normal infantry, fighting alongside a 10 man sub-astartes squad leading them, etc.
