Default What pushes you to start a new army

I've been thinking about this a bit when starting my stray wolves,
so What pushes you to start a new army

What turns you to a certain army.
Is it for the wins they can bring you or the enjoyment and challenge of building and painting the army.

I'm more of a modeller then a gamer so go with what I like the look of more then anything else but still keep it within the codex rule's of WYSIWYG.

Models and good deals. Both my nids and blood angels were started out of love for the new models, and my loganwing is detailed here.

Too much money.

If someone reverts to having to complain about your grammar, then you already won.

Well I started my Eldar when I was finished tweaking my Chaos build to a point where I was satisfied with it. Then, I quickly became dissatisfied with Eldar and moved onto Blood Angels because, well, I was both bored/had the money to blow haha.

Background is what usually drives me to start a new army. If I like what I read, I will generally start an army. However, I haven't started a new army in a long time LOL!

Good luck and good gaming,

Whatever attracts me at the time.. For instance, at the moment it's Tau. But obviously, I want to get my own models painted

When an idea for an army just clicks into my head. Theme, modeling, list, color scheme and background. When they all come together into something I just need to do, that's when they start getting built.

I am also usually working on concepts for a new army while building a current army. Like now I am working on my Night Lords (counts-as BAs) and have everything figured out conceptually like color scheme, background, overall feel of the list, so now it's just build-paint with very little head scratching. So I usually end up thinking about the next project...Sons of Medusa.

Strange, but not a Stranger.

For me it is definately the modeling possiblities since I am also a modeler more than a player. I get an idea in my head or I read a piece of fluff or put a twist on an army and if it is good enough I generate ideas and look at models to make the new army. I usually try to write up some background fluff for the army and if I can do that then I start building the army.

For me it is the backgrounds and modeling potential. I like a good game as much as the next guy but my real passion is for the hobby aspect. I am constantly thinking of how I am going to approach the painting on the next model I want to work on (which in all honesty is probably why I have so many uncompleted and half finished projects on my desk) that when I get an idea stuck in my head I just have to start working on it. I also just by models that I think I will want to paint. I buy a little here, a little there, and before I know it I have enough stuff that actually putting together a list is almost an inevitability. That is how I started with my Tyranids, and it is what is drawing me into the Blood Angels.

I agree with most of the above posts, it's an idea, theme or interesting modeling concept that just gets stuck in my head. I usually have an idea or two for most armies I'm interested in, and that none of my close friends play.

Right now I'm working on finishing my IG army that I've been working on for 12years. I've been working on an Angels of Absolution army for awhile now, mostly as a modeling project but now I want to get it playable 'cause I've played allot with my guard recently.

I normally takes something extra to push me over the edge into truely starting a new army. For awhile I wasn't gonna buy or start anything till I finished my Guard but then I got some DA stuff & started the AoA army, which I intend to finish for the Heresy Online Army Painting challenge.

I also rececntly signed up for an Escalation League at my local GW, which required everyone to start a new army. So I decided to start something different which I think will be fun & challenging, both modeling & gaming, a Mono-Tzneetch Demon army.
