Default The Perfect Army?

So I got wondering, is there such a thing as the perfect army in 40k?

Now before we start this isn't a 'which army is the most competative?' thread. This is for trying to find the army which, as an entirity is the best.

I'm talking everything here. An army that looks good, performs well, is easy to paint, has units that are all useful, is cost effective, can be used with multiple stratergies, has good fluff and can generally be said of 'If your going to have a 40k army, it should be this one.'

Now... we all know Eldar is very much a painters army, and that Tau are a very effective gunline if used right. Chaos looks awesome and loyal marines are easy to play, Nids are fun but not really cost effective and Necrons are tough but boring...

So is there such a thing as The Perfect 40k Army?

IG is as close as you get. They have an answer for almost every potential threat and their all comers lists are better than almost all others. But, really, there is no such thing as a perfect army.

of course, the one you like and enjoy painting, modelling and playing with, win or lose.
(so no not the one you competetive players copy and paste off the net because your sore losers)

nothing else is important really, there is no 1 best army in general, only to the individual.

This. There's no single answer here, it is purely personal preference.

although I like stella's answer,

problem is it always seems to be the last or next army, never the current one.

Wow, I'm really starting to see why you have such a rep for being a massive douche.

You do realize just copying and pasting a list off the net doesn't make you awesome? No of course you don't, your idea of a competitive list is nothing but two units taken as much as possible.

Any army, regardless of if you made it up yourself, made a list and had a friend look over it and point out any errors or if you used one of steleks lists and made any changes you personally wanted to, you still have to UNDERSTAND the list for it to do well.

You have to understand why certain units where taken and what their role is, then you need to practice with the army and learn from your mistakes.
If you copy and paste one of steleks lists and the first time you use it is at a tournament you are going to fuck up BIG TIME.

List building is a huge part of competitive 40k but it is only ONE part, doesn't matter how good your list is if you don't understand your list or don't understand the game.

3++ Is the new black Your final destination for competitive 40K advice.

Orks fit about every single criteria you mentioned, except the cost effectiveness.
