1) Blood Angels (not me )
2) Imperial Guard
3) Space Wolves

The Guard should've won in my area, but the Blood Angel player used the newness of his Codex to his advantage and was moving his Land Raiders as if they were Fast vehicles and the Guard player didn't know any better so rolled with it, so really the Guard should've won, but them's the breaks.

At the Gamer's Realm in West Windsor, NJ:

1. Nids (balanced)
2. Orks (Nob heavy)
3. Nids (genestealer focused)

I couldn't make it, but about 14 people showed up, and I was shocked to find out that there wasn't a single Space Marine, Space Wolf, or Blood Angels player there. In fact, the only marine player at all was a single Chaos Marine (Nurgle) player.

Tyranids and Orks were the most common armies, with 4 Nids and 3 Orks. There were 2 Guard players and 2 Dark Eldar players (if you can believe it). After that there was 1 Chaos Daemons player, 1 Necron player, and of course the aforementioned 1 Chaos Marine player.

All in all, Nids were the army to beat. All 4 Nids players did quite well.

Here in Calgary, Alberta, (I didn't go myself but a guy from my FLGS did and told me)

1. Guard
2. Space Wolves
3. Blood Angels

And as per the previous post where there was no Space Marine players other then Chaos... there were 8 armies at this one. 3 Guard, 2 Space Wolves, 2 Blood Angels and 1 Vanillia.

In Cov, UK

1)Puppies (my friend)
2)IG
)BA (me)

I was suprised, because apart from the top 3 armies, and 1 nid player, the rest were all Necrons, a huge combination of different lists.

oh, and i've tried the 1st turn denial list with Eldar with horrible results, but i chalk that up to only having tried it once.

1st - First turn denial nidz
2nd - Orks - mech list (bikes and wagons)
3rd - Nidz swarm

Coincidently, it was my Ork army which placed second (missed first by a few points )

I ran (fun list):
Ghaz
Warboss on bike
8 nob bikers
3 nob bikers
2 battlewagons filled with shoota boyz
1 battlewagon filled with meganobz
15 lootas
3 koptas
1 deff dread

For the semi finals I plan on a bit more tweaked list looking like:
Ghaz
Warboss on bike
10 nob bikers
3 battlewagons filled with shoota boyz
1 battlewagon filled with meganobz
30 lootas

Hmm...the complete absence of Space Marines, Blood Angels, and Space Wolves at Gamer's Realm seems stranger and stranger. They seem to be everywhere else.

All in all, it seems the armies to beat are: Space Wolves, Blood Angels, Imperial Guard, Orks, and Tyranids.

Eldar, Space Marine Salamanders, and Chaos Daemons of Khorne did 'okay'.

Dark Eldar, Chaos Marines, Necron, Witch Hunters, non-Khorne Chaos Daemons, and all other Space Marines were out of luck.

My small town store was: Tyranids, Tyranids, Dark Eldar, Tau, Chaos Daemons and Chaos Daemons. (There was an Ork army standing by in case a filler was needed, and a Chaos Space Marine player who skipped out).
