Imperial transport question

What does the Imperial Guard use to get Leman Russ and Baneblades to the surface of a planet?

"From the darkness we strike: fast and lethal, and by the time our foes can react... darkness there and nothing more."

Default Yeah

Basically they are cargo containers drop from low orbit. If you are interested read some of the horus hersey novels as they get into this quite a bit especially in the one about the Alpha Legion.

Imperial Guard have several methods of getting their troops down into Orbit.

The usual one is by the Drop Ships. Each one (according to "15 Hours"), is that they can transport an Entire Regiment, including support. I'm not sure if support means Heavy Weapons, or actually full support, as in Chimera's and Battle Tanks.

Also, there are huge great Landers that are specifically designed for the dropping of Battle Titans, like the Warlords/Banelords as shown in Storm of Iron, so it's not too hard to imagine a Lander being avialable to drop in a Leman Russ, or even a Company.

Lastly, a single squad of Storm Troopers/Cyclops Demolition vehicle can be dropped in from Sub-Orbital transports. However, I think they're more limited to the ceiling of a Valyrie, which isn't that good, if I remember from Imperial Armour 1.

Dawn of War, apart from being canon, does suggest that the parts of a Baneblade can be dropped down from Orbit in an underslung Container from a Valkyrie. I wouldn't take this as a source though =D.

Large scale dropships, I would imagine. The fluff makes references to dropships carrying a regiment and all it's equipment.

You'll forgive me, but you must be mistaken. I've met your makers, and they don't even know your name...

A variety of sizes of drop ships. From rare ones that can handle 5-10 lemans to ones that apparently can handle several hundred lemans. Honestly I dislike the idea of super heavy drop ships like that since they seem like huge fire magnets while I'd prefer to use 30 drop ships that each carries 20 lemans to land 600 lemans than one that could be downed with disastrous results.
