Witch Hunters Dreanought

okay, so i'm thinking: could the witch hunters (adepta soritas) have dreadnoughts? I know they were a much-later addition, after the horus heresy (i think) but maybe they could have like a battle-sister who fell in battle and has been interred into a dread.

I reckon model-wise it'd have to be more angular and ornate than marine dreads... what do you guys think?

I say go ahead!

But fluff wise I would disagree... I thought it was an honour saved for the heroes of the Space Marines only? Not too sure on that one though...

i did think that dreds were a marine thing - thats why SM and GK have them and witch hunters don't. i thought that the penitent engine was the WK equivalent of the dred, personally.

what does the WH special character sit on? he has a kind of modified dred throne thing.

To my mind the penitent engine would be the WH version of a Dreadnought.

The penitent engine is one of the best looking GW models out there. Why would you want to use a boring Dread in it's place?

That being said...,I love the creative side of this hobby and if you have a good idea that you want to create then by all means go for it! Just remember to post some pics of your progress for us

Penitent Engines, crunch wise, fill the dread slot. Fluff wise? Not so much. Dreads are places of honor. Engines are places of shame.

*sigh* I have to point out that despite what you see in games, lasrifles win wars. Just because lasrifles suck at killing superhuman killing machines in power armor does not mean that they are bad weapons. You are shooting them at the wrong targets. The most common enemy the Imperium faces is lightly armored humans armed with lasguns or autoguns, NOT SPACE MARINES.

More importantly, the Sisters are very focused on martyrdom-- and being interred in a dreadnought sort of defeats that purpose. You can't very well die for the Emperor if you're functionally immortal. I'm sure if the Sisters *wanted* dreadnoughts, they could have them. There's no decree from the Emperor standing from the Heresy regarding who can have them the way there is about Land Raiders. Guardsmen aren't worthy; and while there are undeniably Sisters who are (individual Battle Sisters occasionally end up as saints... not even ranking officers, just...Battle Sisters.), it just doesn't seem like their cuppa.

If you modelled a Sisters dreadnought and made it look super holy, like a living saint was interred within, then it'd work. However, it's not something you'd have more than one of, and it'd be far too valuable to bring to anything short of a titanic Apocalypse game. But then, you could count it as a Space Marine Venerable Dreadnought. An old, extremely experienced Space Marine probably would have a comparable effect as having a beatified canoness whose faith is just THAT overpowering in the thing.
