Default Pocket change 40K

So, I was a tad bit bored before work and during lunch, at my desk, yesterday. Typically, I keep a small amount of change in my desk drawer. Well, I had pulled the change out and set it on my desktop, and, while going through it, I started wondering 'why are the penny & nickel larger than the dime?' I couldn't make sense of it and I don't care for the historical monetary reasoning why. Because, I realized that while the U.S. mint is not trying to make me play pocket change 40K at work, it is giving me the tools to do so. For example:
Space Marine pocket change army
Pennies are Rhinos making 1¢ equal 1 transport.
Dimes are Tactical Squads making 10¢ equal ten men.
Nickels are Terminator Squads (of choice) making 5¢ equal 5 Tactical Dreadnought armour bodies.
Quarters are Landraiders... because I said so and they're bigger than a Nickel and it makes sense to me.

At first glance, someone thinks you have change on your desk and that's not really worth talking about, until they walk away and battle resumes. :D

If you have a bit of foreign change you can run some xenos armies!

I know a guy... I strongly suggest you see him

This idea is awesome. Here I am playing quarters hockey on the table like a chump...

Unfortunately Canada got rid of the penny and now my two cents rounds down to zero, so...take it for what you will.

I would use a $1 bill as a Rhino, a $5 as a Predator, a $10 as a Vindicator, a $20 as a Land Raider...

Heads-up dime as heavy/special weapons or sergeant? Use the date on the coin to differentiate?

Hmm, might have to dig out my old bag of touristy Guatemalan quetzals, Mexican pesos and Indian rupees...

I used to do this, except with starcraft. I used dimes as marines (tails), pennies as zerglings and zealots (heads vs. tails), etc. etc. etc. It was great fun.

I think, if you have enough of it, Mossy's idea works really well - having the coins be individual models rather than units.

Of course, my idea is also much harder to pass off as a handful of coins scattered on the desk...

I managed to play 5 games today between phone calls.
I like using the coins to represent squads, which lets me use the Silver DollIar I got today as a Baneblade :-)
