Take lots of non gw models and talk loudly about how everything is cheaper on the internet.
GW staff LOVE that.

If you never bothered to paint your army that's even better!

Chances are you will run into a decent amount of older players so dont be put off by them.
Be a good sport wether you win or lose regardless of what your opponent does. And don't do what most other kids do and be that annoying kid that wants to be in everybody's buisness when they are playing a game. Ask the players if they mind you watching and asking questions as they progress in the game. Most people would not say no especially to someone who has your talent. And be prepared to take a little flak. Not everybody thinks its great when they've spent years working on painting and they still suck at it and they get shown up by someone your age. (dont rub it in their faces either)
The hobby is about having fun, being creative and enjoying the game.

And if you can't tell the first two suggestions are jokes.

Call everyone "jackass."

"Hey jackass, that's 3 cover saves. Roll them already!"

"Hey jackass, how'd you like my 3 Heldrakes?"

"Hey jackass, did you paint that army, or did it pass through the bowels of a cassowary?" (I think this one is culturally relevant, myself.)

yeah, mine was a joke
My serious advice would be to talk about things that people have with them - if someone is playing fantasy, then talk fantasy. If they're Playing 40k, then chat about 40k.
Gushing about fantasy to 40k players sometimes doesn't go down too well.
If someone responds to a question saying something like 'I don't know, I don't play that game' then leave it or chat about something else.
Don't carry on the same topic. I met a kid in gw who insisted on telling me all about the new release of vampire counts (was a while ago)... Everytime I tried to tell him I don't play fantasy, he told me a new rule for VC...that got quite frustrating
I've always found them friendly places though

Man, I dont see why you even would need to ask for an advice? If you are not or know how not to be socially awkward then you should be fine in whatever situation!

Just chill its just bunch of gamers like yourself, how hard that can be?
