Default Benefit of Pre-Order

What's the benefit of pre-ordering from games workshop? Can I not just go into the story and get it on the day of release?

makes sure you get whatever it is in case it sells out .

probably not going to be the case with the centurions

EG Saturday you get in store at 12.00 and he,s sold out of his allocation of Hunter/stalker kits , pre orders means yours is guaranteed ( though it still took bloody ages for my death from the bloody skies due to GW,s cock up ) .
that's about it

Pre-order guarantees you will get the product.

I just stated the idea behind pre-ordering. I can't account for any fuck-ups made by GW.

What it does not guarantee (which is quite the opposite of any other company) is that you get the product earlier, I know allot of people who pre-order and actually get stuff upto 1 week later, and in the case of eldar allot of them did not get the codex till later, because they had sold out on basic retail........derp

In those cases people still got their goods. They didn't all get them on release, but they got them.

I walked in to my local GW (only place to get GW products in store in Mississauga now I think) on the day 6th was released at my leisure and bought a copy of the new BRB. I guess GW just ain't so popular in Canada's 6th largest city. Maybe it was a better supported release, I haven't been in store lookin' for new shiny for a while and won't until the BA get released and simply can't wait on the Codex....and for the sake of the poor sap working that day they better not be out of stock

Unfortunately Canada got rid of the penny and now my two cents rounds down to zero, so...take it for what you will.

You get to part with your money before everybody else

The idea is that you give GW an influx of cash before they've shipped, allowing them to operate with a large budget before they've actually moved the product. ;)

In reality though, the only real thing to pre-order were the LE rulebooks. It isn't like the Space Marines kits were going to be scarce, lol.

Then again, if you paid the ridiculous prices they were charging for those LE book, Jebus. I hate to point out anything in a luxury hobby as being "overpriced" but FFS, you can buy the core of a small army with the difference between the regular book and the LE one, and all you got was a really expensive paperweight when it becomes obsolete in a few years.

If Marneus Calgar is supposed to be "one of the Imperium's greatest tacticians" and he treats the Codex like it's the War Bible, but the Codex is garbage, then how bad is everyone else?
