Default What Are Your Strongest 2000 Point Lists?

Hey guys, so I don't always have time to get out to the LGS. I still like to test my lists and get them ready for tournaments and I do that by playing against myself at home. I just need some strong lists to play against to really test my own army. I posted this here rather than a specific list section because I'm interested in strong lists from all armies. It's also going to be interesting to see people's strongest lists all in one place.

A rule though, no specific points but please post specific units. For example, don't just say 'Necron Airforce' but list the actual units in your Aircron army.

Also if you could post a few tactics you use with your army that would be helpful for me when Im testing.

Thank you in advance.

Stay spikey.

The most ridiculous list I'd use is probably my Orks allied with Imperial Guard.

You create an auto-cannon filled, objective scoring gunline with the Imperial Guard, and then send special weapons teams with meltas/flamer marching behind the Ork forces (no demo charges in the special weapons teams, it'd draw too much fire). You can also throw in a manticore and Marbo if you have the extra points.

For the Orks, in 6th edition I like to focus on hordes. With cheap IG providing fire support and anti-tank, the Orks are free to focus on numbers.

Here's what I'd probably run:

HQ

Warboss w/mega armor, cybork, attack squig (with slugga boyz)

TROOP

30 Slugga boyz w/nob, 'eavy armor (on nob only), powerklaw, bosspole

30 Shoota boyz w/nob, 'eavy armor (on nob only), powerklaw, bosspole

30 Shoota boyz w/nob, 'eavy armor (on nob only), powerklaw, bosspole

20 Shoota boyz w/nob, 'eavy armor (on nob only), powerklaw, bosspole

20 Shoota boyz w/nob, 'eavy armor (on nob only), powerklaw, bosspole

19 Grots w/runtherder (in front, to provide cover)

ALLIED IG

HQ

Command squad w/3 melta guns

TROOP

Platoon command squad w/3 melta guns
Infantry squad w/auto-cannon, flamer
Infantry squad w/auto-cannon, flamer
Heavy weapons team w/3 auto-cannons
Heavy weapons team w/3 auto-cannons
Heavy weapons team w/3 auto-cannons
Heavy weapons team w/3 auto-cannons
Special weapons team w/2 melta guns and flamer
Special weapons team w/2 melta guns and flamer

Marbo

Yeah, that's about the meanest list I can think of (that I would personally use). With such a heavy focus on objectives, the most competitive choice is probably to swarm the board with troops, including ones to take down vehicles, deal with flyers, and win close combats.

There may be more dangerous lists out there, but in any case, I'm going to hazard a guess that the most competitive lists out there all include the Imperial Guard in some way (either as the main army or as allies).

The first casualty of war is neither innocence nor truth.

The first casualty of war is always subtlety.

Don't know how "competitive" this list is, but it is my 2000pt SM list. It's a vanilla list that emphasizes mobility.

HQ
Captain (PF, Bolter w/Hellfire)
-Command Squad (Comp Standard, 2xFlamer, Melta, Plasma)
-Rhino
Librarian Epistolary on Bike

Elite
Dreadnought (AC,CCW-Flamer)
Techmarine
Terminator Squad (5)(AC, 2xCF)

Troops
Tac Squad (10) ML, Melta (std Sgt)
-Razoback (TL HB)
Tac Squad (10) Plas, LC (Sgt PW, BP)
-Razorback (LC, TL Plas)

Fast Attack
Bike Squad (5 bikes w/ Attack Bike) (Melta, Plas) (AB - MM) (Sgt - PW,BP)
Vanguard Vet (5 w/Jump Pack) (2xPlas, Sgt PF)

either
LS sqad (2) (HB, MM) (HB, HB)
or
Stormtalon

This list is highly mobile.
The Techmarine usually embarks with the Command Squad who runs where needed in their rhino.

The Librarian rides with the bike squad who if terrain permits, I like to use as a flanking squad that has enough firepower to shoot up most anything. They can also make a decent assault against smaller units.

Depending on the objective layout the Tac Squads usually split into 5 man squads with the special weapon and sgt mounting in the Razorback and the Heavy weapon squad holding deployment objectives.

Dreadnought and Terminators mostly march up the middle shooting as they go.

I like to keep the Assault Marines back with the objective holders to counter encroaching enemy squads, deep strikers or outflankers.

Depending on the meta in your area, the Stormtalon is primarily for anti-flyer usage. Although I prefer my land speeders for general play if the opponent isn't running flyers.

I have an alternate version of this list that moves the Captain to a bike and mounts the command squad on bikes.

HQ
Legion Centurion - Artificer Armor / Combi-Melta / Heavy Chainsword / Refractor Shield / Consul - Siege Breaker

Elites
Legion Apothecarion Detachment - 3x Apothercaries / 3x Augury Scanner
Contemptor Dreadnought Talon - 1x Contemptor / 2x Kheres Pattern Assault Cannon / Carapace Mounted Havoc Launcher / Extra Armor

Troops

Legion Tactical Squad - 10 Additional Marines / 20x Additional CCW / Sergeant Combi-Plasma / Sergeant Power Axe / Melta Bombs
Legion Tactical Squad - 10 Additional Marines / 20x Additional CCW / Sergeant Combi-Plasma / Sergeant Power Axe / Sergeant Melta Bombs

Fast Attack
Storm Eagle - Hellstrike Missiles / TL Multi-Melta / Armoured Ceramite

Heavy Support
Legion Heavy Support Squad - 5 Additional Marines / 10x Autocannon / Hardened Armor *(Centurion Goes Here)*
Legion Predator Strike Armor Squadron - 3x Predators / Executioner Plasma Destroyer / 3x Combi-Bolter

The Apothercaries go with the 2 Tactical Squads and the Heavy Support Squad.
1995 Total.

The Legion Strides Forth!

Obviously a Betrayal list, and one that puts out a frightening amount of fire power per turn. This is designed as a Gun Line type list, therefore it lacks Close Combat Units.

Either...

HQ:
Belial (TH/SS) - 130
Terminator Librarian (Divination and Pyromancy) - 145

Troops:
Deathwing (5x TH/SS, CML, Apothecary) - 265
Deathwing (AC/CF, 2x TH/SS, 2x DLC) - 250
Deathwing (AC/CF, 2x TH/SS, 2x DLC) - 250
Deathwing (CML/SB/CF, PS/SB, 3x SB/PF) - 240
Deathwing (CML/SB/CF, PS/SB, 3x SB/PF) - 240

Fast Attack:
Ravenwing Attack Squadron (2x Meltaguns) - 140
Ravenwing Support Squadron (Typhoon Launcher, Multimelta) - 75
Ravenwing Support Squadron (Typhoon Launcher, Multimelta) - 75

Heavy Support:
Predator (Heavy Bolter Sponsons) - 95
Predator (Heavy Bolter Sponsons) - 95

Belial and Librarian run with Command team, coming in via Reserves. Shooty DW squads start on the board, and the two mixed ones arrive via Deathwing Assault. RWAS melts priority #1 transport for Deathwing to get at contents, while Preds and Speeders target troop carriers or fliers as necessary. Pretty simple really, and the best I go without resorting to allies.

Or...

HQ:
Librarian (Null Zone, Avenger) - 100
Librarian (Null Zone, Avenger) - 100

Elites:
Sternguard (3x Combi-meltas, 2x Combi-flamers, Power Axe and Meltabombs, Las/plas Razorback) - 245
Sternguard (3x Combi-meltas, 2x Combi-flamers, Power Axe and Meltabombs, Las/plas Razorback) - 245
Dreadnought (2x TL Autocannons) - 125

Troops:
Scouts (Tellion, Snipers, Camo, Missile Launcher) - 147
Tactical Squad (Rhino, Meltagun, Multimelta) - 210
Tactical Squad (Rhino, Meltagun, Multimelta) - 210
Tactical Squad (Flamer, Missile Launcher, Rhino) - 205

Fast Attack:
Attack Bike x2 (Multimeltas) - 100

Heavy Support:
Predator (Heavy Bolters) - 85
Predator (Heavy Bolters) - 85

Fortification:
Aegis Defence Line (Icarus Lascannon)

Librarians go one in each Sternguard squad, Scouts go in the Aegis line. Melta tacticals push up and support Sternguard, while the other stays back to support the Scouts. Rifleman and Predators target transports and the Attack Bikes melt whatever the hell they need to before they die. Pretty simple again really, and again without allies.

Well, the following is what I would use.

HQ
Captain, ArtificerArmour, Relicblade
Librarian,Terminator Armour, Storm Shield, Force Axe

Troops
Scouts, Telion, ML, Sniper Rifle x3
TacticalSquad, Meltagun, MM, Sgt w/Combi Melta & PW/MB, Rhino
TacticalSquad, Plasma Gun, PC, Sgt w/Combi Plasma & PW/MB, Rhino
TacticalSquad, Plasma Gun, ML, Sgt w/Combi Plasma, Rhino

Elites
AssaultTerminatorSquad,TH&SS,Landraider Crusader
Sternguard, Combi x5, Sgt w/PW&MB, Las/Plas Razorback
Sternguard, Combi x5, Sgt w/PW&MB, Las/Plas Razorback

Fast Attack
Attack Bike w/MM
Attack Bike w/MM
Stormtalon w/ Skyhammer Missiles

Heavy Support
Predator w/AC, HB sponsons
Predator w/AC, HB sponsons

This is actually a 2,500 list and I guess if I had to shave something off it might be a Sternguard squad and the Stormtalon -OR- the Assault Terminators, LRC, and an Attack Bike.

And when thy heart began to beat, What dread hand? & what dread feet?
What the hammer? what the chain? In what furnace was thy brain?
What the anvil? what dread grasp, Dare its deadly terrors clasp?
When the stars threw down their spears, And watered heaven with their tears,
Did he smile his work to see? Did he who made the Lamb make thee?

As BA,

Libby (JP) - 125

1x Priest (1x JP, 1x PW) - 90

10x RAS (PF, 2x MG) - 235

10x RAS (2x flamer) - 200

10x RAS (PW, MB, 2x flamer) - 220

10x Tac. (ML, flamer) - 170
-->Rhino - 50

Baal Pred (AC, HB) - 145

Baal Pred (AC, HB) - 145

Vindicator - 145

Storm Raven (AC, MM, HB) - 230

Storm Raven (LC, MM, HB) - 230

I will form a massive mob in the middle with my tanks and the RAS, then will split off as needed. Ravens come in and kill shit up, especially with HB. Against mass orcs, Vindicators are key, Tac. will help and RAS w/ flamers are good. Thats a lot of models though...
