Default What kind of unit do you wish that you had in your army?

I saw this in the fantasy fluff thread and I thought it was a good idea and may lead to some good discussion.

Idea by Serpia5 and idk if this has been done before in 40k.

What unit do you think you could use in your army with a very specific role.

For example: Imperial Guard Hermes Walker. A large 4 legged walker that acts as a fire support base. With 4 anti air missiles OR 2 twin-linked lascannons, a 12" command bubble that allows re-rolled leadership tests for orders (not Morale tests). Kind of like a chimera, but mainly for an HQ choice to support his units. 12/12/10 armor and The ability to hunker down and get a +1 to it's cover save, but it can't take camo netting, so that keeps the cheese off of it.

What have you guys got?

God I seem to be becoming some sort of board nazi, but isn't this more within the realms of army lists or general 40k?

Chaos Space Marines:

Assault Crawler, 70 points. AV 12/11/10 transport that can carry 10 models, but no Termis. It has the Assault Vehicle special rule and Destroyer Blades, and is allowed to Tank Shock the turn a unit disembarks from it. Perhaps open-topped, perhaps has daemonic possession, perhaps 0-1 in the FOC unless you buy a Warpsmith. (The tank shocking and destroyer blades are really not necessary, just might be a cool addition)

Looks like another daemon engine from the Soul Forge: Defiler legs on the front end dragging it forward and treads on the rear end. A cool addition the various daemon engines we already have.

It would give CSM a reliable assault vehicle besides the one variant of over-expensive Land Raider--kind of a must for a supposedly cc-oriented army. Rhinos are not assault vehicles, dammit!

But...yeah, this should probably be in a different forum.

CSM Plog, Tactica

What sphinx of plascrete and adamantium bashed open their skulls and ate up their brains and imagination? Imperator! Imperator!

Eldar: Long range anti tank unit (dev w/ ML equivalent? or autlas pred equivalent?)

Tau: not so much a new unit, but make crisis suits BS4 for gods sake "They are experienced fighters who have fought the deadliest foes and triumphed. Their loyalty and skill is beyond question..." and they still shoot like a grot. Failing that, give them some form of solid AP2 or 3 weapon for taking out marine units.

Orks: grot HQ and/or grot planes.

We do not fear the flame, though it burns us,
We do not fear the fire, though it consumes us,
And we do not fear it's light,
Though it reveals the darkness of our souls,
For therein lies our power

If someone wants to move the thread to the tactics or general 40k, I'm cool with it. I just don't know how, honestly.

Great additions, guys. I will say that the CSM transport sounds underpriced. 70 points seems too cheap for that kind of transport. An IG chimera is 55 and it is just a tank.

I agree about the tau battlesuits. I wish the kroot were better too

I want something with a longer than 24" range and an anti-air missile, not too much to ask is it?

Well... not really a new unit but for BA I would want an invuln for sanguinary guard... I mean come on

Then... having the serfs available as units would be fun

I haven't faced BA before. Are you sure you don't have a unit idea? Perhaps a bloodhound. Hah!

No I feel like we have pretty much everything we need, except a meat shield and thats un-fluffy.

Theoretically we could make some angelic pseudo-walked thing like the death knight with wings and shit... That would always be fun, but TBH nothing fluffy comes to mind.

*EDIT* and bloodhounds would probably be khorne not BA...
